The NHS COVID Pass has barcodes on it, and these have an expiry date.
But if you have a digital NHS COVID Pass the barcodes refresh, or renew, every time you log in.
You do not have to do anything, they refresh automatically and your NHS COVID Pass will still be valid.
The expiry date on an NHS COVID Pass does not apply to your vaccination status. It applies to the barcodes on the NHS COVID Pass. The barcodes are valid for 180 days.
If you download, save or print your NHS COVID Pass
The barcodes do not refresh if you download, save or print your NHS COVID Pass.
Once the barcode has expired you'll need to download a new copy of your NHS COVID Pass.
Always check the expiry date on your NHS COVID Pass before using it.
NHS COVID Pass for travel based on a positive NHS PCR test
If you have an NHS COVID Pass for travel based on a positive NHS PCR test, it will last for 180 days (6 months) after you took the test.
If you have a digital NHS COVID Pass, the barcodes will refresh every time you log in.
If you download, print or save your NHS COVID Pass, check the expiry date before you use it. You'll need to download a new one if the barcode has expired.
After 6 months, your NHS COVID Pass will no longer be available.
NHS COVID Pass in other formats
An NHS COVID Pass in other formats (a letter, audio, big print or Braille) will be valid for 180 days from the day you apply for it.
Check the expiry date before you use it. You need to apply for a new one if you want to use an NHS COVID Pass letter after it expires.
NHS COVID Pass for domestic events and venues
There is no longer an NHS COVID Pass for domestic events and venues. This is because you do not need to show a pass to get into events or venues in England.
