Managing your account in the NHS App

You can use the NHS App, or log in through the NHS website, to change your password and login details. You can also update the details NHS services use to contact you.

Changing your login details

To change your password, or the mobile phone number or email address linked with your NHS login:

  1. Log in.
  2. Go to Account and then Settings.
  3. Select Manage NHS account.
  4. Select Login and security settings.

You can then select the relevant option and follow the instructions on screen.

Mobile phone number changes

You will need access to your old phone number to log in. If you do not have access to your old number, contact the NHS App team.

Email address changes

If you cannot remember the email you used to set up your NHS login, contact the NHS App team.

Password changes

You will need to enter your old password to log in to the NHS App or website and confirm the change. If you have forgotten it, you can reset your password online.

Changing your contact details

To change your mobile phone number or email address on your NHS record, which services will use to contact you:

  1. Log in.
  2. Go to Account and then Settings.
  3. Select Manage NHS account.
  4. Then select Contact details.

You can then select the relevant option and follow the instructions on screen.

If you have several phone numbers or email addresses on your NHS record

To choose which phone number or email address you want to keep on your NHS record:

  1. Log in.
  2. Go to Account and then Settings.
  3. Select Manage NHS account.
  4. Then select Contact details.
  5. Choose which mobile phone number or email address you want to keep on your NHS record.
  6. Follow the instructions on screen.
If your details are incorrect

If your name, address, date of birth or NHS number are incorrect or out of date, contact your GP surgery and ask them to update your details. They will then update your NHS record. Any changes made there will appear in your account when you log in to the NHS App or website.

Accessing your account on another phone

You can use someone else's phone or tablet to set up your NHS login. But you'll need access to the phone number you provide, as we send a security code to it every time you log in.

Deleting your account

You might have used your NHS login to access one or more websites or apps, as well as the NHS App.

Important

After you have deleted your NHS login:

  • you will not be able to access websites or apps using your NHS login (you might have to set up a new login if you want to access them)
  • those websites or apps might keep some information about you

You can delete your account using the NHS App or website:

  1. Log in.
  2. Go to Account and then Settings.
  3. Select Manage NHS account.
  4. Select Login and security settings.
  5. Select Delete my NHS account.
