As someone with anxiety taking the step to finally book an appointment about something that has been worrying me for a long time can be difficult, i plucked up the courage to go into the surgery to book an appointment to be told I have to do it online. I go onto the website and for the life of me figure out how to book an appointment for the specific issue I have, I am a young person and never usually have issues with technology, I would hate to think of my grandparents attempting to book an appointment! I sent an email to the surgery and got a call back the next morning, I was busy so we arranged for me to call them back the next day. I was extremely stressed and anxious for the next 24hours as I hate phone calls at the best of times not to mention when it is regarding a health concern. When I called them the next day I was told that they had no record of anyone contacting me the day before, and I shouldn’t have called them, I have now been directed back to the website. I understand the nhs is struggling but it should not be this difficult to see my gp, I think it is frankly disgusting that people cannot walk into their local doctors surgery and book an appointment, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of organisation.

We are sorry that you have experienced difficulties in making an appointment with us. Due to the high demand for appointments and the shortage of doctors we have, for the past 2 years required that all requests for a GP appointment are assessed by a clinician. This meant that we did not offer open booking for GP appointments We have recently changed the system and all routine medical requests must be made via an online form. These will be looked at by a clinician and assessed for priority and the most appropriate course of action. This might be an option to book a telephone or face to face appointment at a time convenient to patient, an immediate telephone call from a clinician or the patient will be signposted to the best source of help. We will get back to patients within 5 working days. Our Reception team are available to help those patients who have no internet access or who would struggle for other reason. Patients with urgent medical needs should contact us directly and a clinician will get back to them on the same day. Regretfully we cannot always meet the demand for routine appointments but we feel this system ensures every request receives the attention it requires. We take all complaints seriously and take on board the issue of us not having a record of you contacting us. We would like to look into this further and it would be helpful if you contacted us directly. Tadley Medical Partnership

Life's being put at risk before I Get to see doctor as online has reached it's max for today at 11.30 .Rang at 8.30 am to be told you need to do online now doctor will be in touch in next 5 days. This practice has really gone down hill and receptionist just saying call 111 is so wrong

Thank you for your comments. We hope you will be reassured to hear that we have now increased the capacity of the routine medical requests that can be made on a daily basis. The online system is for routine requests only. Patients with urgent medical requests can still contact us by telephone or by coming in to the surgery and they will be dealt with on the day. Have tried to get a appointment online as advised it's so complicated and did not cover the issue I have so given up will go back down to reception to see if I can get any sense out off them directly

Third appointment with same issue , third doctor, no consistency, no diagnoses, felt the Dr was indifferent, it appears standard solution is just to offer pain killers and a blood test . Dr requested I book at reception for blood test . At reception I’m told the Dr doesn’t know anything, as appointments cannot be made by then (I felt receptionists frustration was take out on me ) . I was then given a telephone number to call for the hospital, but again was told ‘good luck trying to get one !’ - l left feeling my appointment was completely waste of time with no solution . In the 50 years I have attend this practice I have never felt so neglected.

The sexual health nurse I spoke to was excellent. Very sympathetic and understanding. She took the time to talk me through options and understood my specific circumstances.

Just thought I’d leave a positive review for Holmewood surgery. Recently had blood tests at Basingstoke hospital. Doctor rang within 2 days with results and what needs to be done. A few days later rang again to check all was well and with more information after researching questions I had asked on the 1st call. After so many negative comments about the surgery I just thought I would just say I felt well looked after and the Doctor involved was very helpful and professional. Thank you.

I have recently experienced a tga for the second time and notified the practice online. I was quickly called for a consultation. On arrival I had to wait about 7 mins as first in queue because one assistant was answering a call and the other assistant was being trained. However I was attended to efficiently and told to see Dr X Dr X came to the waiting area and called my name and introduced him/herself. Tthen gave me a thorough examination relating to tga. I was given a simple set of memory tests. Dr X also asked if I had other concerns and I mentioned inconsistent urine flow and he/she arranged for psablood test and a urine sample. After consulting with a senior doctor he/she also arranged an ecg. The whole examination took 40 mins and I felt very well treated. Two points to consider. The sign in screen is no longer working and therefore forces queuing at the admin desk.. This may be necessary for some reason but it is clearly less efficient than an electronic sign-in. Secondly the screen in the waiting room no longer calls me to attend. Again this appears to be less efficient for the doctor but on the other hand is more friendly to the patient and allows the Drs to stretch their legs. Having been a patient at this practice for 35 years I have never had a bad experience from the medical personnel. However the telephone, admin and dispensary service quality and waiting period has been variable. On this occasion the service was first class 10/10 - and I wanted to tell you so. Thank you

Received good precise text regarding blood tests for myself and my husband. I find the appointment’s system by phone is excellent. Frontline receptionists are always helpful. Doctors provide an excellent service.

Twice in the last 2 weeks I have experienced the help and patience of the receptionists at Tadley Medical Partnership. They went above and beyond to help sort out problems with my prescriptions. The new telephone system for booking appointments enables you to be rung back by reception instead of being on hold while awaiting your turn works well and is a great improvement.
