  1. Review titled Not what it used to be.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Unable to physically see a doctor, rarely even have phone calls now. Just text messages following on from e-consults. They used to bother with children but not any more. Problem with a child's hearing and was given a chemist appointment. The chemist said they don't and have never been able to look at ears and the problem I contacted the surgery about was not something over the counter treatments would be able to assist.

  2. Review titled Plummeting standards

Rated 1 star out of 5

It is with great regret that I have to concur with recent reviews that are reporting a shocking demise in the service provided by this practice. This used to be a first class doctors practice. Accessible, high quality consultations and straightforward appointment making. Now, my goodness, the whole modus operandi of this practice seems to be to put every obstacle possible in your way so they can avoid having to speak to you or see you. Everything geared to their convenience. We have faced blatant incompetence regarding an urgent referral, e-consult messages receiving no response whatsoever (and one where a response was finally received weeks later, it was just a fob off), repeat prescription requests not actioned. It beggars belief how a practice can go from first class to no class in such a short space of time. Extraordinary. I am at the stage where if I need to see a doctor, I’ll go without other things and pay £95 to see a private GP - which I’m sure is exactly what South Coast Medical Group want. So well done on achieving your objective.

  3. Review titled terrible experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 December 2023

been a patient from the very start and could write alot but i would be here all day will try to be brief as have no faith in the practice.Terrible ill experienced reception staff and ill experienced doctor that was rude and un interested.Firstly used e consult for pain management and another matter and a text back said should hear back by the 18th December (used to be 2 days so i was told but now had changed) and thats not for an appointment either. Had a blood test booked for the next day at Denmark and asked about the new system as now part of South Coast Medical Group installed 1/12 and nobody reception or doctor admitted they had any idea how it worked or how to use it brilliant now part of South Coast and nobody has any idea how to use the system.I asked the doctor how to book online as there was a 7f x3ft huge poster in the reception saying how easy it was to book online etc etcThe doctor said yes you can (they had no idea) with the help of the receptionist then said "oh you cant" and they are a doctor but had no clear experience with the system also rude i dont rate their bedside manner and if i ever manage to get an appointment i will make sure to swerve that Dr.I did point out that they are always saying new patients welcome but maybe firstly make sure you can treat the patients on the books before you take on anymore.Lastly like many have put of trying to get an appointment but you can only do that so long i cant believe how bad the practice has got it used to be 5* how things have changed

  4. Review titled Awful surgery that consistently fails its patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2023

As a family we have attended this surgery for over 20 years and have always praised the efficiency, friendliness and compassion of it's Drs, nurses and reception staff. However over the last 12 months and noticeably since the surgery have taken on Winton medical centres patients we cannot even get a telephone appointment without waiting over a month there is never any face to face appointments available. You are told to book an e consult on their website you cant even find the e-consult request page. It is with regret that I shall be moving Drs Surgeries as the level of care provided by this practice is appalling.

  5. Review titled Shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 October 2023

Used to think very highly of this surgery but not anymore, this last year the surgery has gone downhill, receptionists are extremely rude, have to wait more than four weeks for just a telephone consultation, and you’ve got no chance of getting an appointment. Can’t understand why other surgery’s can get it so right and this surgery is failing miserably. Told many times that there’s no verruca clinic for children only to find out that there is a clinic for a small one off fee, my son had to suffer weeks of agony, not being able to wear shoes, it’s absolutely shocking that you’re given untrue information, not just by one receptionist but by many. Told on phone , when making an enquiry, that’s it’s been dealt with only to discover a week later that it hasn’t been and told by receptionist that you’ve never phoned in the first place, looking to move to another practice in the hope that I will experience a better duty of care towards us patients.

  6. Review titled Wonderful receptionist - made my day

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Susan - Posted on 16 June 2023

Very considerate receptionist. Having explained my predicament, including not hearing the telephone ring, they very kindly agreed I could call back in an hours time. In that hour they had worked their magic and sorted out my issue for me via the doctor. They were empathic and so kind, they really are a marvellous example of a terrific receptionist enabling doctors and their patients to resolve issues promptly. Thank you so much.

  8. Review titled Indifferent and unprofessional

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Vladimer Bittner - Posted on 29 January 2023

I was recommended to Denmark Road Surgery after I moved to Bournemouth 8 years ago. It used to be a really good practice, I didn’t go for appointments very often, but when I did, I left feeling confident that I had been well taken care of. Unfortunately, not anymore, both Doctors I had, have since left, I have no clue who my Doctor is. The nightmare began at the beginning of December when I husband requested a repeat prescription online because I had run out of my medication. I suffer from chronic Laryngitis, it’s kept under control with inhalers, nasal sprays and occasional Codeine. My request was denied, and I had to wait until January for a refill. I applied on January 21st, and received a text saying I had a phone appointment on Monday January 23rd at 09:15, this was cancelled by text from Denmark Road, and I was told to ring the surgery at 13:00 to make another appointment. Needless to say the line was continually busy, so another wait. Finally I got through and was given a 14:00 appointment on Tuesday the 24th. No one called ! Then I noticed that the nasal spray prescription had been filled and sent to Lloyds online pharmacy in London instead of Winton Pharmacy!! Yet another call to the surgery only to be met by indifference, saying they had no record that I was supposed to get a call at 14:00, and to call Winton Pharmacy myself and give them the barcode so they could fill the prescription. On Wednesday I decided to go to the surgery to explain what I needed. To cut a long story short, I have since been given an appointment on February 20th, then the 10th and now the 7th. As a last resort I tried e-consult, listing my medical needs, and referenced my pertaining medical records. I received a text denying my request (who knows why), telling me someone will call on February 7th. Needless to say, I have no faith in this surgery at all. I hardly ever go to the doctors and this is what happens when I need a prescription filling, and the problem is to date, not resolved. Please be aware I am not criticising the NHS, I have the utmost respect for the nurses, doctors and paramedics. What I am criticising is the complete indifference I have experienced, as a result of this I am changing my doctor.

  9. Review titled Good GPs, very curt and unhelpful 'phone answerer'

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 December 2022

My 90-year old neighbour rang, short of breath and needing to see a GP. Was told, curtly, 'ring back after one'. She tried to explain but received the same response. She rang her daughter, who then rang the practice and was allocated a phone appointment for my neighbour that morning. Lovely GP, said 'we need to see you' and my neighbour was duly given an appointment for late that morning and prescribed antibiotics and inhaler. Neighbour is still upset due to uncaring, abrupt attitude of 'phone answerer' (don't know who this lady is).

  10. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2022

Impossible to get an appointment. They tell you ring at 8am for an appointment but the phone line is constantly engaged as they are obviously so busy with everyone having been told the exact same thing. You cannot even get through to queue in the automated system - that is how busy the phones are!! After this time there are no appointments available for the rest of the day and you are then told to ring the next day at 8am where you go through the entire debacle again. Ridiculous system and I'm looking for another GP practice now as this is just unacceptable.
