  2. Review titled Pointless telephone contact

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 October 2022

Waited over 45 minutes for telephone to be answered. Required appointment to see doctor told no appointments available for at least 2 weeks unless I queued out side tollgate surgery from 8 am. Why not say there are no appointments before I had to wait 45 minutes?

  3. Review titled Telephone waiting time

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 September 2022

Looking at reviews from 2021 nothing has changed as far as the telephone system is concerned. I have now come to the conclusion it is quicker for me to spend half an hour to walk to the surgery and back rather than try to phone. I’m lucky that I am mobile enough to do it. The appointment system is diabolical. An elderly neighbour of mine was very I’ll. (when she did see a doctor she was told to go to a&e) She was waiting on the phone for 25 minutes only to be told to go to the walk in at 8. 30 the next day. She didn’t go because she was too Ill. I went up at 7.45 the following day and there were already 9 people in the queue. Another neighbour bought her up at 8.30. We waited until 10.15 to see a doctor. Having said all that. I find the staff very helpful in difficult situations. It’s the systems that need sorting out and streamlining.

I was required to provide blood for testing. A very pleasant young lady telephoned me on 13th inst and offered appointment on 14th at 1215. I attended and was seen within 2 minutes. Very happy with the service and pleasant receptionist and medical person who dealt with me.

  5. Review titled poor practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 September 2022

I find it most unhelpful. first trying to see a doctor. holding on the telephone at 8am and beiong told 'your 48 in the quiue'. Then told you will be given a telephone appointment later in the day. If you want a face to face appointment you are told to go to Tollgate and wait in your car until 8.30. If you do that then by the time you are seen, you are told all appoinments have been taken and to come back the next day. I got there at 8.03 the next day and was 7th in the quiue. Why is there no appointments at Ambrose Avenue? It is hard for senior citizens to get to Tollgate if they haven't got transport. t is not very good. I know of several folk who feel it is pointless trying to see a doctor and don't bother to try and get through to the pratice. Surely now the Pandemic is under control Ambrose Avenue could be open to the more vunerable paitients who suffer in silence as they feel Tolgate is too farto get too. Even I heard of a patient in a wheelchair was asked to go to Tollgate! How was he supposed to get there? With Tollgate increasing in housing etc it is even more unlikely that folk in Prettygate it will be even harder to get to see a GP. Perhaps they should look for another group practice who would be more likely to get an appointment. I know serveral who done this.

We are sorry to hear about your experience in 2022. Our staff is working hard to ensure patients are seen at both of our sites. Please appreciate that this is a busy surgery with many patients to look after. In case of an emergency, we will always make sure that patients can be seen. Our receptionists try to be as helpful as possible and do their best under different circumstances. If you would like to discuss this in person, I am happy to do so. 6. Review titled Didn't pass the door

Rated 2 stars out of 5

You're told to phone up for an appointment, service stops and call never answered so you get told to try the walk in, tried 3 days and we're told 'were not taking any more wall ins today sorry'.... You're open from 9am... How am I being refused at 8:50 due to no appointments left. Causing unnecessary stress on the hospital.

  7. Review titled Dreadful communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Joanna Jones - Posted on 12 May 2022

First of all I realise the team are under immense pressure but the service is consistently really poor. I speak to the surgery on behalf of my mother who has parkinsons which causes memory issues and confusion, not helped by the fact I live 90 miles away so I can't just pop in to the surgery. My dealings with the surgery are mainly painful experiences, I've spent anything from 30 to 90 minutes in a queue to get an appointment, have frequently had issues getting test results, and communication about prescriptions and action being taken is poor. On one occasion I was on hold waiting for the surgery to decide whether they had consent to speak to me, I was simultaneously on my own GP's website ordering a prescription. In the time it took Ambrose Av to decide they could talk to me, I'd put in a request with my GP, she'd issued the script and it was ready to collect at the pharmacy. I've called the surgery twice this week looking for test results that still aren't available, and yet I've just been told by Mum's care team she's been issued with antibiotics, why? And if a script is being issued surely we should be notified? So tomorrow I'll be back on the phone trying to find out the answer. A quick call to me would prevent so much chasing about and head scratching. The system is under pressure but it's not fit for purpose.
