had appointment. saw nurse practitioner who went through all the issuse i had and identified one inwas unaware of. doctor got back to me realy quickly with hospital apointment. covered all the point raised during my visit with the nurse. thanks for an excelent job.

On walking into the Rawdon surgery the receptionist met my eyes with enquiry and a smile. My problem is complicated but she listened patiently then reassured me that a doctor would triage my problem quickly. By the time I returned home I was sent details of an appointment for the following day at the Silver Lane surgery. I’d not met this doctor before but she was enquiring, caring and concerned. A way forward was discussed. My sincere thanks to both the receptionist and doctor for the help both provided. Your service was swift and efficient.

I find the receptionist at New Road Side surgery most polite,helpful and friendly. On Tuesday last I was seen by Dr Kohn(?) a doctor I haven't met before. She listened attentively to my problem. I had suffered extreme pain in my right hip, preventing me from sleeping. This had rapidly increased over the last few days. I was asked if I allowed her to examine the area and I readily agreed. Dr Kohn suggested I attended Wharfedale Hospital for an X-ray of both hips. Naturally I agreed. As I was attending for an ultrasound scan on my abdomen and pelvic area it was a convenient opportunity to carry out both procedures on the same day. This was most helpful. Within 24 hours I've had a report to tell me the ultrasound scan found normal results, naturally a big relief. I've always found the medical team at Rawdon and Silver Lane Branch most helpful, friendly and welcoming at any of my appointments.

A friend who recently joined the practice on my recommendation had a painful knee, she requested an appointment, was seen the same day,was sent for an X-ray and has already got a referral, all within ten days. I have been with the practice for over forty years through it’s various incarnations but when I phone about a potentially dangerous locking knee I am told I need a face to face appointment and have to wait nearly three weeks. Why not a phone call and X-ray and then a face to face appointment? I know the difficulties surgeries are facing and try not to ask for attention very much but this is quite demoralising. Is it me?

We've since had a message from the author of this to explain that they wanted to withdraw this message as they were having a really bad day. We can't unfortunately take any messages down afterwards, but we appreciate you letting us know that you wanted to. Just to confirm no patients are on any sort of filtering system, other than assessed based on their clinical systems and offered either a same day or routine appointment. All our appointments are the same wait away whether face to face or a phone call (which is still a consultation), but its the GP that determine how quickly to see a patient - even those with similar sounding symptoms might be triaged differently based on other medical history and other risk factors. My 2 year old had been unwell for a few weeks and so they booked her in that day and reassued me it was just a long doese of bad teething. They were great when examining her, very considerate of her feelings and physical discomfort.

Had a telephone consultation with urology dept st james hospital at 11.45. They sent letter to avs same day, I contacted surgery too mid afternoon as agreed with Urology Dept by 5.30pm I had received required prescription and had started my treatment. Really efficient, kind and well co-ordinated response and I felt well integrated in the process too.

I was given an appointment for an injection in my knee but when I arrived my appointment wasn't even with a GP and he decided I didn't need an injection. Which is fair enough but I'd had an x-ray and surely someone eg GP should have reviewed that before giving me a pointless appointment a week after the x-ray. I wish they also wouldn't keep contradictory each other all the time.

We have several clinical staff trained to give steroid injections to help ease the waiting times. The Physicians Associates are qualified and trained to do these now too. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed not to be given the injection that you had expected. All clinical staff have a number of risk factors to consider before they give the injections, rather than just give it. I presume that this is what happened there and there was a medical reason not to. If you didn't get a full explanation to help you understand the medical reason, do get in touch with the surgery and they'd be happy to ask the clinician to give the reasons again. I filled in an online form first thing in the morning and was phoned back within 1.5 hours with an appointment for the same morning. The male doctor was personable and professional.
