Common questions about heparinoid - Brand: Hirudoid

How does heparinoid work?

Heparinoid cream or gel works by helping to prevent small blood clots from forming just under the skin and also reduces swelling in your veins.

This helps to ease the pain, improves the circulation in small blood vessels under your skin, and helps to heal bruises and inflammation of veins (superficial thrombophlebitis).

When will I feel better?

Heparinoid cream or gel should have a soothing effect straight away. The gel may work more quickly and be more soothing due to its cooling effect.

For healing, heparinoid will usually work within a few days if you're using it to treat a bruise.

For haematomas it might take longer for your symptoms to get better, possibly up to 2 weeks.

Superficial thrombophlebitis can take a few weeks to heal.

If your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse, speak to your doctor or a pharmacist.

Is it safe to use heparinoid for a long time?

There is not enough information to say whether it's safe to use heparinoid for a long time.
