ST JAMES’S SURGERY
Welcome to our first newsletter, this newsletter is to let you know what is happening in the surgery on a monthly basis. There will be décor changes in the New Year and we will be looking into creating more nurse appointments. As from January 2009 we will be open for doctor’s appointments late on a Wednesday evening and a Saturday morning booked appointments only 9am – 11am.
In order to keep as many doctors appointments free as possible, please be aware that the Nurses can see patients for a variety things including:
Diabetic Reviews, Immunisations,Asthma checks, Blood Pressure checks, Repeat Prescriptions Contraceptive advice, Smears, Stitch Removal,Dressings, Sexual Health advice
Reception staff will always ask the nature of the problem when you make an appointment at the surgery, this is to ensure that you are made an appointment with the appropriate professional. If you do not wish to disclose this information, you may say it is ‘personal’.
We still have some flu jabs left if you are being sent a reminder please let us know if you wish to have the flu jab or not. Carers are entitled to the flu jab please book an appointment.
Target of the Month:
Smears & Immunisation’s & New Born - You may have received a recall letter for your overdue smear, we are obliged to send you 3 reminders. If you do not wish to have a smear you must sign a disclaimer. If you would like to discuss any aspects or have any queries or concerns please make an appointment with the nurse who can answer all your questions.
Immunisations - We will contact you if your child is due their vaccination or booster. It is very important that your child is vaccinated against the childhood diseases. If you have any concerns please book an appointment with the Nurse.
New Born - Congratulations please note that your new baby will be due their first set of immunisations at 8 weeks old when you will have an appointment with a GP for a check up then an appointment right after to see the nurse for the Immunisation. The second immunisations will be at 12 weeks old and the third set will be at 16 weeks old. Please make sure you register your new born as soon as possible and book in for their immunisations
DNA’s for November 2008 (Appointments that were booked but not attended): 190
This is a waste of an appointment that someone else could have had – please ensure you always attend booked appointments, or let us know in advance if you are unable to attend. People who recurrently do not attend appointments, without notifying us will be removed from the surgery’s list.
