Improving Access to General Practice: Evening appointments now available

we're here for you for longer

Patients who are registered at this practice can now book an appointment to see a GP here at Bridge Medical Centre on a weekday evening, usually on a Tuesday, after 6.30pm.  In addition, prebookable telephone appointments are available after 6.30pm on a variety of evenings.

Patients who are registered at this practice may also be offered an appointment to see a GP or a Nurse at one of the Crawley GP Hub centres.  Currently these appointments will be  offered by the practice team throughout the day.  These appointments are primarily offered to patients who are presenting with an acute on the day presentation of one of the more minor illnesses.

Talk to the receptionists to find out more or book an appointment.

By March 2019 everyone in England will benefit from access to general practice appointments in the evenings and weekends at a time when it is most convenient to them.  This is part of a national drive to help improve access to general practice and get the best possible outcomes for patients.

Named GP for over 75's

You may be aware that from April 2014, all practices are required to provide all their patients aged 75 and over, with a named GP. This GP will have overall responsibility for the care and support the surgery provides to them.  As a practice we have started the process of allocating patients to a named GP and most patients have now been informed.

At present, all patients are registered with Bridge Medical Centre.  This is still the case and if you have a named GP, you can still see any of the doctors at the practice.  If you have forgotten who is your named GP, please ask our reception team.

Online Appointments & Prescriptions

Patients can now book some GP appointments online up to two weeks ahead and order repeat prescriptions online.  To allow access you will need to come to the surgery and complete a form. Please bring with you photo ID (passport/driving licence) and proof of your address (a recent utility bill/bank statement) as for data protection and confidentiality, we need to verify your identity.  You will then be asked to return to the surgery after a week, with photo ID, to collect your log in details.

Apologies to those who are used to ordering repeat prescriptions online under the old system as this will no longer work until you have completed the verification process.  In the near future you will be able to access a summary of your records and therefore we need to be very careful to ensure your identity is verified.

The service is not currently available for children under 16, however we plan to offer this in the future.

Blood Pressure Checks for over 45's

Are you over 45?  Have you had your blood pressure checked in the last 5 years?

The vast majority of people who develop high blood pressure, do so over the age of 45.

If you are not on treatment for high blood pressure and would like to have it checked, please make an appointment with a Healthcare Assistant.

If you are being treated for high blood pressure, you should have it checked at least every 6 months.

More on how we perform

We are currently not accepting new patients

Please be advised that because we have reached in excess of 10,800 patients registered at Bridge Medical Centre, our patient registrations are now capped with effect from Tuesday 1st May 2018. This means that we are unable to take on any new patients. This decision has been taken in order for the practice to continue safely providing NHS services to our currently registered patients.
