Using the NHS App

When you have downloaded the NHS App, please set up a login and use the app's features. Use it to book an appointment at your GP practice, order your repeat prescriptions or view your GP medical record. It is a live service so please only book an appointment at your GP practice if you need one.

You may already use one of the GP online services. You can continue to use these services and other ways of contacting your GP practice if you prefer. You can register and test the NHS App if you are using these services.

Giving your feedback

We are testing the NHS App between September and December 2018. We want to find out how people use the NHS App, what they think of it, and how using the app affects your GP practice.

Once you have had an opportunity to use the app, we will contact you to see what you think of it. You can choose how we contact you when you register. Your feedback is very important and will help us improve the app before we launch it to the public.

App help and support

You can find answers to common problems on the NHS App help and support.

Keeping your data safe

We take the security of your personal information seriously and manage this in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

The NHS App has a secure identification and login process to help keep your data safe. This has been independently tested against standards set by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

You can find out more about how your data is used in our privacy policy.

Launching to the public

We will launch the NHS App to people across the country gradually from December 2018. We will use the feedback we receive from patients and GP practices during the pilot to help us plan the public launch.
