Review titled Sleep Clinic
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Adam Bryant - Posted on 22 February 2025
I started my sessions with the sleep clinic last year in September 2024. I worked with a clinician and she was extremely helpful. I have suffered from insomnia for a number of years but in the last year it has been even worse. She gave me ways to improve my sleep and exercises I can do to improve it including keeping a sleep dairy. She was always lovely on the phone and put my mind at ease. My sleep has improved since I started my sessions but I'm taking one day at a time as it is still early days. I will be forever grateful for her help.

Review titled Beyond comprehension
Rated 4 stars out of 5

After more than 2 hours and at least 3 separate people informing reception staff that there is a puddle of urine on the floor in the A&E waiting area, no one has attended to clean it up. Many people have walked through it now and it is spead throughout the waiting area. It is beyond comprehension that there is no one available and/or able, to clean this up.

Dear patient, Thank you for highlighting this. I have just completed a walkthrough of each of our waiting room areas with our Emergency Department lead nurse. I am assured that this has been cleaned and is no longer present. We value all feedback from our patients and thank you for taking the time to raise this. Should you wish to escalate a future concern whilst under our care please request to speak to the lead nurse who is happy to assist. Thank you. Kind regards, Elaine Kavanagh, Matron for Accreditation and Patient Experience

Review titled Excellent solution to a long standing problem
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had been suffering from insomnia for many years, waking in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep, so my GP referred me to the Insomnia Service. I found the processes used by the service to be excellent. Initially it was a bit tough, but over a period of 4 – 5 months the benefits were clear. The regular waking at 3-4am has been eliminated and my average sleep per night has increased by around 2 hours. The process suited me well. The approach is clear and logical, the progress clearly measured and the results were obvious. It requires some discipline on the part of the patient to stick with it, but it is well worth it.

Appointment for follow-up with removal of sutures in Opd 2. Despite my background as a registered nurse, the staff were fantastic. They did not assume I knew it all.Of course, I knew that I might behave badly, and was both nervous and ticklelish ...foot sutures!.Examination and procedures carried out by the Polish Physio and South African nurse (not allowed to divulge names....but you know who you are!) Thank you to the Consultant and her splendid team.

My father has just been discharged after 5 days in hospital, starting at A and E, then into Merrow Cardiology ward, via Acute Medical Unit. We have been extremely impressed by , and grateful to, every single member of staff. They were all attentive, friendly and efficient. Their competence and expertise is evident from the transformation in my dad's heart health, from very poorly to able to go home and carry on everyday life. Huge thanks to them and God bless our wonderful N H S

Review titled Dedicated staff with amazing empathy and tireless patience.

I had to come to the Royal Surrey County Hospital by ambulance at 1.00am (Friday 17th January) Staff were very attentive but I wasn't seen until 8.00am, then told my episodes of losing control of my right hand and arm were matters for my family doctor. That was the least good experience of the next few days. I had another episode that evening at home, so on the advice of paramedics was taken again to Accident & Emergency. I was attended by one of the doctors who was extremely thorough and insisted I stayed overnight for more Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging brain scans. In total I stayed 3 nights in Acute Medical Unit, so was treated by many staff, who I cannot speak highly enough of. (I have never stayed in hospital for any length of time, apart from the birth of my children.) Several very seriously ill patients were admitted to this ward often during the night. The staff remained so cheerful and supportive. Medically, I understand the way forward for me. My bed was comfortable; my food was perfectly acceptable and hot. One thing that dismayed me was the behaviour of one patient's family who expected special treatment, day and night. The National Health Service has to run a tight ship; there is no place for individual entitlement. I am immensely grateful for all the kindness and professional help I received.

I’m so impressed with the speedy help I received for a non urgent ankle injury. I had great help from a fabulous nurse in accident and emergency minors who arranged an X-ray and gave me an orthopaedic boot. She also arranged a scan and fracture clinic for me. Had scan today at Sdec Staff lovely and kind and super service thank you.
