  1. Review titled My last admission to hospital

    by atlasnk94 - Posted on 04 October 2023

I had a meeting with my consultant and let her know didn't feel very well and was aching and sore all over. She was concerned about me and admitted me to the Bostonian ward very quickly. I felt very upset and tearful at the time as I didn't really know what was happening and have been struggling with my diagnosis. Everything was all a mumbled mess in my head. Staff were aware of how I was feeling and that I was struggling and they all kept a close eye on me to make sure I was okay. They were all very supportive for both my physical and mental health. I really felt I needed someone with how low I felt and the staff took the time to sit with me and ensure I was okay. I was worried about the time they had with me because I felt they had other things to do, but they still made sure they found time for me and reassured me. They also brought me one of the little worry worms for when they weren't there. Ill carry it everywhere with me. Although things still aren't perfect, I'm feeling a little better and like I've got a good support network.

  2. Review titled Poor communication

by Lambretta - Posted on 26 October 2023

Eye dept at Pilgrim Boston. I found the member of staff on reception to be lazy. I waited 3 hrs past my appointment time. This was because my notes had been picked up with some other's by mistake. Mistakes happen, but I twice went to the reception and asked if there had been a mistake. The member of staff didn't go to the nurses station to ask, and in fact accused me of moaning. After this member of staff had gone home, I approached the nurses station myself and sorted the problem immediately.

  3. Review titled Put at ease by friendly staff

    by Masel13 - Posted on 29 September 2023

I arrived early for my scan and was seen immediately. Staff were very friendly and explained the procedure and put me at ease. I then attended the follow up appointment, and again was seen by friendly staff who explained the results in simple terms and put my mind at ease. It was explained how this would be followed up in writing.

  4. Review titled Gynaecological surgery

by Daisy Beach - Posted on 03 October 2023

I started having UTI and bleeding continuously kept getting prescribed antibiotics these didn’t appear to be working. Finally sew a gp at my local practie, she looked back into my records over last few months and discovered that urine samples had only been dip tested at the practice, none had been sent for testing. Anyway a appointment was made for bladder and kidney, these came back normal. And according to my GP practice no further action required, I insisted on talking to a GP. He then referred me to gynaecology, scans, exray, internal, blood tests ect later I was diagnosed with stage two cancer. From then on things moved relatively quickly and I’ll never be able to praise all the NHS staff enough, every single one of them at the hospital, from the two consultants, Macmillan gynae nurse, the amazing team in the operating theatre all the nurses on day care ward, the lady’s who cleaned THANK YOU

  5. Review titled Services rendered - Topnotch!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Debbie - Posted on 06 October 2023

From the time that I moved into Boston and started my antenatal checks, till the day that I put to bed, I experienced excellence at its peak. Before delivery date, the Consultant was concerned and very particular about the kinds of food I ate during pregnancy, and recommended things I could take to boost my iron level. During delivery, all hands were on deck, ensuring that all that needed to be done was done for a safe and smooth delivery. Those with me in the labour room could not stop talking about the display of excellence by all that were involved in the safe birth of my Baby. However, a major point of concern for me is the fact that considering the nature of the ward, it would be expected that such premises are to be as quiet as possible, in order to help new Mums get good sleep and recover properly, and to avoid disturbing the peaceful sleep of new borns. But, for me, this was not the case. The noise was unbearable, and it was almost impossible to get good sleep after such long hours of labour and suturing in the theatre. One after the other, there was one person or the other with one thing or the other to do or say, or not being able to quietly handle equipment and thereby intercepting one’s sleep. I requested to be discharged, but they needed to put me under monitoring for some time. Sincerely, it was almost impossible for me to get quality sleep during my stay at the hospital, which is not commendable at all. Overall, each member of the team involved in the delivery of my Baby was outstanding in the performance of their duties, and though I cannot mention names here, I would say: “keep up the good work, you are touching lives!” Thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind words and complements you have provided regarding your care at Pilgrim Hospital. I am so happy to hear you had an excellent experience during your birth and felt safe within our service. I’m so sorry to read your experience on the Maternity Ward wasn’t so positive and you were affected by the amount of noise on the ward, resulting in a lack of sleep for yourself. Unfortunately, the ward is a busy environment in which we are providing a 24 hour service to women and their babies. This means throughout the night, we assist with infant feeding, taking of clinical observations, performance of antenatal monitoring and sometimes have to deal with emergency situations which are often unavoidable but to result in an increase of noise. I am so sorry this caused you some disturbance however and you felt you couldn’t get any quality sleep which I appreciate is not ideal when you have first given birth. I will feedback your comments to the team via email and discuss this at our next team meeting at the end of the month so they are aware. Thank you once again for your feedback and the compliments you have provided for the team, it is much appreciated and we wish you very well with your new baby. Many thanks Robyn Robyn Dalton Midwife Interim Maternity Ward Manager

  6. Review titled Every staff member was kind, respectful and helpful

    by KateR74 - Posted on 15 August 2023

My father was admitted to Pilgrim's ED via ambulance with difficulty in breathing having initially called 111 for advice. Despite being insanely busy he was assessed, had various investigations completed, was reviewed and discharged within 5 hours. Every staff member he encountered was kind, respectful, helpful and apologetic for delays (not their fault.... everyone was working flat out). To maintain such professionalism and compassion - as well as maintain a sense of humour - in what seemed like a complete maelstrom of activity is amazing (I would probably cry in a corner if faced with what the team that day were). Thank you so much to all that were involved in ensuring he was OK.... He's home now and under strict instructions to behave sensibly!!

Dear Mrs Robust ‘Thank you very much for your comments regarding your visit to the Royle Eye Department. Feedback is very important to the team, to see if we are able to improve our service. Although we appreciate the Royle Eye Department can have long waits between investigations and seeing the Clinician, we can only re-assure patients that this is due to the number of patients being seen in clinic during the session. It is very nice, kind and thoughtful for you to provide this feedback on your visit, and it is much appreciated. This will be passed onto the staff, to ensure they are aware. Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback.’ Regards Zoe

  8. Review titled Broken Hip

    by March57 - Posted on 30 November 2023

One very snowy/icy morning I slipped & fell on the patio at home, the result was a broken hip. I couldn't get up on my own & was unable to walk as I couldn't control my leg & the pain was very bad. Husband drove me to our local hospital for X-rays which confirmed that it was broken so was taken by ambulance to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston.

  9. Review titled I was looked after very well

    by Suzanne581 - Posted on 25 August 2023

After a terrible fall from a trip, I was treated in Skegness with speed and efficiency for a dislocated thumb, there were other injuries but this was the most severe. It could not be put back here and I was referred to Boston Hospital, they were contacted ahead to advise of my coming and they confirmed back they would be waiting for me due to the length of time of the dislocation. I was dealt with quickly yo start assessed etc was only after all of the procedures did things slow down considerably. But overall I was looked after very well and all the staff were very friendly and courteous. Considering my pain and being emotional, they were great.

  10. Review titled Could not fault

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 August 2023

Today I have spent time in Same day emergency unit, Staff couldn’t do enough to reassure my husband and myself. We were offered and given refreshments, on more than one occasion, making this department feel friendly and relaxed. There is a professional but reassuring atmosphere. All the staff are happy to talk and laugh with the patients to relax them.
