Review titled Fantastic care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sara Lawrence - Posted on 11 December 2024
I would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff in the Cardiac Suite. I arrived yesterday 3rd December for an Angiogram after a narrowed artery had shown up on a CT scan. The angiogram showed that a stent was needed as the artery was 95-99% blocked. This was fitted at the time. From the time I arrived to the time I left the level of care I received was exceptional. I was kept fully informed of everything that would happen and things that could or may happen. The nurses after the procedure were compationate, caring and went above and beyond with their level of care and concern. I felt safe and so well cared for throughout the whole day. Well done to everyone there yesterday you really are the magnificent team and I wanted to give you a big shout out. Thank you all so very much. You made my ordeal much easier to deal with through your level of care. 🥰 xxx

Review titled Disorganised pharmacy
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 December 2024
Overall the care and the staff at Lister is brilliant. However, the pharmacy is an absolute mess. There is no system at all. Was handed a number and asked to come back in 40mins. When we returned, still waited for another 30mins for the screen to say that the prescription was ready. Then suddenly the screen shows 20+ prescriptions ready at the same time (from I70 - 195). Mad rush to queue. Then we notice people coming to the collection desk stating that their doctor had virtually sent their prescription and the pharmacist then leaves to find the prescription, absolutely delaying those in the queue. Furthermore, there is another counter open where the pharmacist is randomly calling out patients names, and some who came way after us, plus how are the people in the queue supposed to hear their name if they're queuing outside the waiting room? Ideally, there should be 4 counters for collection and patients need to be served in the order or their number. The seating area needs to be an open area with plenty of seats so patients do not need to queue and can just walk up to the counter when their number is called. We saw extremely old seniors, kids on crutches and patients in pain queuing. We spent 1.5hrs in queue waiting at the pharmacy, which was more than getting my scan and seeing a doctor. This should not be happening! Please make some serious process changes because the pharmacy is letting down the hospital.

On duty Sunday 3 Nov He was outstanding in every way ,knowledge polite caring and finally finding a cause of pain. With many thanks to you all, from a retired qualified nurse.

My dr in rheumatology has been treating me now since I was taken to ICU in November and I can’t praise her enough. How she shows importance to her every patient the knowledge she has and the care and work she puts into her job is just over and above all excellence. I feel very lucky to have got this lovely lady consultant as drs like her need to be valued and respected

I recently visited the Urgent Treatment Centre twice. The staff were kind, friendly and put me at ease. It was also very efficiently run - both times was seen and given treatment within 2 hours (2nd time included an x ray).

Review titled Disgraceful and appalling service at the pharmacy
by Barry - Posted on 25 October 2024
Without doubt, Lister Pharmacy has the worst run service that I have ever come across. Having been given a prescription, which I was told could not be used elsewhere, I was forced to go to the hospital pharmacy. What an appallingly disgraceful and badly managed experience. I joined the queue to hand in my prescription and was eventually given a ticket “Number 86” and was told it would be around 30 to 40 minutes, so I sat down and waited. Beside me were two ladies, one with No.27, and the other with No.47. I asked No.47 how long she had been waiting and she said it was over 2 hours. I suggested that she should inquire at the desk. There, she was told that it was still "In Progress”!! Eventually after 2hrs 35mins her number came up on the screen, but she was then told they couldn't find it. Numbers kept flashing on the screen and were now showing numbers of 120 or more were ready for collection. Eventually, after 2hrs 10mins my number came up as "Completed", and I then had to join another queue which stretched outside, and it took over 15 mins to reach the front. Having handed in my ticket, the member of staff walked up and down the rows of dispensing staff, lifting up trays and sorting through paperwork, without success. He returned to say he was looking for it and disappeared. After a few minutes another staff member asked if she could help. I suggested that she should find the person who had my ticket or better still find my medication. She too spent ages looking for him, and then walked up and down searching before she also disappeared. I was then asked by a third person, and having explained the situation, he too set off and walked up and down searching in trays. This whole disgusting performance had become a complete farce. Believe me I was not the only one being treated in this disgusting show of total incompetence. I eventually received my prescription. This whole disgraceful fiasco had taken well over two and a half hours. I noticed that there were several signs stating that abuse to staff was not tolerated, and I can well see the necessity and reason for this. I can understand that there are times when it is really busy, but although the numbering system and display board seem efficient and the dispensing staff seem to do their job, thereafter the system completely falls apart. There were four members of staff walking up and down the lines of dispensing staff searching for completed prescriptions by sorting through piles of trays and boxes. To me this was caused by total bad management that would allow such complete and utter chaos, and the manager involved should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.....or perhaps they couldn't care less.

Review titled Totally incredible
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Rev Nash Tear - Posted on 13 October 2024
Had an accident at stevenage railway station as I was trying to change trains to get home. Taken to Lister Hospital. From the start, every single member of staff I met were completely dedicated to the patients. This starts right from the cleaners, porters up through all the different positions within the hospital, the nurses, doctors, they are incredible people who do not get enough recognition for their sheer dedication and determination. I was blessed to be brought to such a hospital as this and have requested, I continue my treatment there until recovery no matter the distance because I trust them completely with my life. To say the words thank you to them all, they certainly are Not! enough. I certainly will make the trip back to continue treatment there and to keep reminding them of just how wonderful they all are.
