  1. Review titled No attention to detail when it matters

by Claire Hepburn - Posted on 15 April 2024

As it is impossible to get an appointment at this surgery during the day I booked an out of hours appointment. When asked what it was for I said the Menopause and a lump I have found in my breast. I was given an appointment in Guisborough at 20:35 the following Thursday. On that appointment the doctor asked what he could do for me. I said there were two issues. He stopped me and said the appointment was for one issue only. I was gob smacked. I asked which he thought was more important, my suicidal thoughts due to menopause or the lump I have found in my right breast. This appointment caused me so much upset all because the receptionist did not book me a double appointment. I was told I would be referred for a scan. Today I have received a letter telling me I have a phone/video appointment on April 22nd at 1am in the morning. No information on if they call me or I call them or how I do the video call. Totally confusing. I called the breast clinic and they said I should not have been sent that letter. It was the surgery making me a referral. More unnecessary confusion and upset caused at what is already a very difficult time.

Rang at 8am for a moderately urgent issue. Obtained a same day appointment with nurse practitioner. Comprehensive consultation. Hopefully all sorted, but if not, lots of advice given. Very impressed.

  4. Review titled Rude Receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I was in a queue and this very abrupt receptionist asked me questions in a hostile manner. It is not the first time she has spoken to me in that way. I am a professional person who works with people and would not dream of communicating the way she does. She acts as though she owns the surgery and not just works there. The surgery staff need communication training.

  5. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Linda Wilson - Posted on 09 August 2022

My husband was discharged from James Cook Hospital after ongoing surgery related to bowel cancer . Upon discharge I was instructed by the ward sister to contact our G.P.s and confirm a district nurse was booked for a home visit .I had also noticed , when changing my husbands dressing an allergic reaction was building up around his wound .I was told that the surgery had nothing to do with district nurses and was offered an appointment for the following Friday. When I insisted my husband be seen at the surgery the receptionist hung up on me . I complained and then my husband was seen . My complaint has yet to be addressed and I still await after 8 weeks the result of a promised investigation , we have since changed surgeries.
