Review titled Unobtainable appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Martin - Posted on 30 April 2025
I tried to get an appointment this morning. After several failed attempts at phoning for an appointment and being told at 8am that there are no more appointments, I decided to use the consult service and I use the term service very loosely. I clicked the button at exactly 8am and was presented with the 3 options, clicking on adult I then searched for a condition that fit my symptoms and clicked through only to be presented with the screen saying that only administrative issues were available. I am beginning to wonder whether they actually have any doctors or appointments here or whether it is simply a facade. I would like someone to please tell me how to get an appointment as following the so called process doesn't seem to lead to the desired outcome

Dear Martin, Thank you for reaching out with your concerns. I appreciate your feedback and understand the importance of timely access to our services. Regarding the telephone system, our lines open at 8:00 am each morning. Our audit shows that capacity for calls have typically been called by our lead GP at around 9:00 am each morning this week, with today’s capacity being called at 9:07 am. We recognise that demand can be high, and we are continually working to manage this as efficiently as possible. Concerning the eConsult service, it also has a limited capacity for clinical issues. This is to ensure safe and manageable workloads for our clinicians and patient safety. The capacity constraints are primarily due to patient demand exceeding our current staffing levels, which are limited by funding. Our clinicians strive to see as many patients as possible within safe working guidelines, including those outlined by the British Medical Association (BMA). You can find more information about safe working practices here: https://www.bma.org.uk/advice-and-support/gp-practices/managing-workload/safe-working-in-general-practice. To supplement our services, we encourage patients to consider other options such as pharmacies, Minor Treatment Centres or utilise the NHS111 app or website for advice and guidance. If you have suggestions on how we might better meet the needs of our patient community, we would be pleased to welcome you to join our Patient Participation Group (PPG). The PPG works collaboratively with the surgery to improve services and address patient concerns. Thank you again for your feedback. We are committed to providing the best possible care and appreciate your understanding as we continue to adapt to increasing demand. Regards, Ann Flint Practice Manager Westcourt Medical Centre

Review titled How are you supposed to get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Martin Green - Posted on 03 April 2025
I tried to get an appointment today. The appointments open at 8am and are fully booked shortly thereafter. You can't even do an eConsult as they close that facility too. Its an absolute farce.

Dear Mr Green, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that you was unable to get assessed by our triage service this morning. Unfortunately, current patient demand exceeds the capacity that our clinicians can provide within safe measures for both patients and themselves and they do try and see as many patients as possible whilst practising safe working. We also follow the British Medical Association (BMA) Safe Working Guidance which can be found online for you to view. If you wish to share your concerns to help improve NHS Services, you can address these issues to your local Member of Parliament (MP). MP's have the power to influence policy and prioritise funding for better healthcare services. Regards Ann Flint Practice Manager

Review titled Caring service from Westcourt Receptionist
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 February 2025
My telephone query was made to one of the Westcourt's Receptionist team (a lady) on 7.2.25 about a prescription issued by my GP on 28.1.25 but still unavailable for collection at the adjacent Kamsons pharmacy today (7.2.25). My query was dealt with efficiently & with empathy by this Receptionist, informing me exactly what had happened with the "missing" prescription. She actually popped over to Kamsons personally to resolve the problem in person because, as she herself said "it won't get resolved otherwise". She was also excellent in explaining how the problem can be resolved. A great example of initiative and empathy in a busy work environment, which is much appreciated by this particular patient. Keep up the good work.

Review titled E-consult ignored.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Avril Bowles - Posted on 27 January 2025
I submitted an e-consult on Friday 24/1 because I think I may have sciatica. I wanted advice about painkillers I could take, having only 1 kidney (& possible lung cancer) but it's now 7pm on 27/1 & no one has bothered to call me. This used to be quite a good service but even has failed now. It seems no-one cares any more.

Review titled Great Long Term Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

i have had an ongoing health issue for the last 3/4 months. As soon as my Dr took on my case he has been fantastic at trying to help with my health issues and understand these issues and how best to help. it has been a very stressful ordeal but knowing i have the same Dr looking at my cases and accessing this has really helped me in every way, including reducing stress in this stressful time. I'm very thankful for the time and care taken by my Dr, he's a real credit to his profession. many thanks,

Review titled Awful service
Rated 1 star out of 5

I tried to get an advanced GP appointment to discuss worsening symptoms with an existing condition but told this is no longer an option and could only participate in the usual 08.00 daily bun fight to try and get a triage call back. Dreadful service.

Review titled Cancellations
Rated 1 star out of 5

As a patient with a long term condition, appointments are requested to be made by the practice but never conducted due to a chronic shortage of capacity. My current review (overdue and 3rd attempt) was cancelled this morning.

Dear Anonymous, I am sorry to hear of your feedback on the service at Westcourt. As you have not left your name, I am unable to look into this further. Unfortunately, cancellation of patient appointments occur due to sickness. Our staff are very mindful when they are ill of the impact it has on our patients and they do try to come into work where possible without passing on germs to others and to not add pressure to an already over demanding service. Should you wish to help participate in how the surgery can develop and progress moving forward, please do contact Clair Hook, Patient Services Team Lead who will be only to happy to listen. I’ve always had amazing help here. Last week, one particular doctor, helped me so much. Their gut instinct was spot on, and they helped me beyond measure. They went above and beyond for me. I can’t thank them enough
