So pleased to say that everyone from secretaries, GPS and reception staff have been marvellous sorting out appointments and urgent referrals for my husband. Having no family nearby and feeling very overwhelmed,it is very much appreciated. I feel supported, and able to approach the staff . Thankyou

  2. Review titled Can't get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 21 March 2024

I've completed an e consult asking for an appointment. They called me when I was in work so I called back to arrange the appointment. Not really sure what the point was in that, could just called in the first place. Anyway first appointment is over a month away. So this now means I'm restricted time wise because I work. They now can't get me an appointment at all, as I need it to be after 4 pm. I have to call back "next week sometime" to try again for the end of May. So they've reissued my prescription anyway but it's "important I come in as soon as possible". I would disagree that it's that important if you can't get me in. Worth noting that I have two weeks off in April when I can go in at whatever time. So this isn't me being inflexible this is just plain ridiculous. Let us book further in advance and let us book an appointment online. Your phones won't be as jammed if I didn't need to keep on contacting you and then you call me and me call you back.

  6. Review titled Awful practice!!

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by S.s - Posted on 17 July 2023

This surgery is not fit to practice, still using covid to avoid face to face appointments! They say call at 8am for appointment and as the clock reaches 8am you ring only to be told calls are at capacity!! Then eventually get through and surprisingly all appointments have been taken, so I question when there is any appointments and get told there's some online for 3 weeks, 3 weeks!!! What a total joke. For a large practice like that only 1 gp in today the reception said, village medical Centre need to pull this surgery up from the complete mess it's in!! I'm very surprised this surgery is still open because it definitely isn't fit to practice!! It's gone awful and the cqc needs to clamp down on them!!

Dear Patient thank you for your comment. Firstly I would like to say that the practice does offer face to face appointments along with telephone appointments and video consultations. Unfortunately due to high demand at 8am the phone lines do reach capacity at times, to try and alleviate this problem we have employed extra staff to answer the phones as the surgery can receive over 1000 calls a day which we monitor through an online portal. We offer pre-bookable appointments, online appointments and on the day appointments, that can either be face to face or telephone. The practice works as a multi-disciplinary team, this means you don't have to see a GP for your illness/condition you can see and maybe given an appointment with another clinician. Today in our surgeries we had 4 GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) 2 Physician Associates (PA) 1 Mental Health Practitioner 1 Nurse Prescriber 1 Practice Nurse 2 Health Care Assistants (HCA) and 2 Pharmacists. We would be happy to discuss your concerns further. If you would like to do so, please contact our Practice Manager thank you

  7. Review titled Baffled

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Richard - Posted on 08 July 2023

The person I care for is registered at this GP. She was diagnosed approx 12 months ago with the menopause and was experiencing severe symptoms such as hot flushes and feelings of dispair. The surgery prescribed a medication to treat these symptoms that worked extremely well and made her condition manageable. She has received this medication every month since. This week when we visited her pharmacy to collect the medication prescribed it had not been sent. We then contacted the surgery to enquire why and were told this medication cannot now be issued untill she has a medical review !? Accepting of this we asked for an appointment for a medical review and were told no appointments were available until the end of this month and they cannot issue any more medication in the mean time. She has now not been able to take this medication for the last 7 days and the side effects she has been suffering have been absolutely awful and she has not been able to leave the house or get on with any aspect of her life. I feel this decision to withhold the medication until they can offer a medication review is both confusing and unethical. I can now put this review forward as her medical review for the benefit of the surgery. Everything was going brilliantly until you did this and now she is suffering a great deal of stress anxiety and very severe physical symptoms. If this issue is not resolved shortly I will be forced to take the matter further through the NHS.

Dear David, We are so sorry to hear about your recent experience with the surgery, however we thank you for your comments. The practice policy in regards to sick notes is that they are not an urgent requirement. However if a review with a doctor is required then you can book a routine or online appointment and the sick notes can be back dated to your requirement. I am currently unable to look in to this matter due to lack of patient information but please do not hesitate to contact me further to see if I can assist you with this issue further. Kind regards Sharon Cooper Practice Manager

  9. Review titled Still waiting for a ring back appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Heather Timmins - Posted on 19 June 2023

I have had the experience of being given a wrong appointment date and 3 weeks later am still waiting for the receptionist to ring back with a new appointment I have never before missed an appointment. Why is the surgery still following covid rules I have been able to access an out of hours surgery with no covid problems whatsoever. Things were happening with accessing the surgery before covid and there is still no improvement I have been reading previous reviews looks like maybe new management is needed where people can actually have face to face appointments I have been in other surgeries and spoken to other people about access to their gps and they have no problems there are some serious issues going on here too many patients and not enough gps how much longer am i going to have to wait for another appointment?

Dear Heather Timmins, Thank you for your recent feedback it is very much appreciated. We offer a variety of appointments, face to face, telephone consultations, video consultations and home visits if required. On reviewing your records it was noted that you was given a face to face appointment on the 9.6.23, which you failed to attend. However following our conversation you have stated that you were given the wrong date and it was also established that you had not consented to SMS text messages therefore the appointment was not received via message, this has now been rectified along with your online access. An appointment has also been given today via your request on the 19.6.23 via our practice website. We are so sorry for your recent experience with the practice and we appreciate all your comments to improve the service of our surgery Kind regards Sharon Cooper

  10. Review titled Don't do what they say they will

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Linda - Posted on 18 April 2023

17/4/23, our daughter rang several times to get appointment for my husband after the out of hours Dr gave him painkillers for hip and leg pain on the previous Saturday. First call shortly after 8, usual no appointments reply. After explaining why he needed appointment she was told the receptionist would contact "a senior" with a view to booking one for Tuesday and call her back. No call received so she rang again to be told this would now be done and she'd be called within 30 mins. Didn't happen, my husband rang this morning, explained again, person rang him back to say a telephone appointment would happen today. Sat by the phone all day, no call received, surgery stated to be closed when rang at 6 30 , website shows 8am to 8pm!

Dear Patient We are so sorry for your recent experience with the surgery but thank you for your recent comments. I am unable to investigate this matter fully because I need the patients full details to find out exactly what happened. I would also like to state that on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are our extended hours until 8pm, however the phones lines go over at 6.30pm. I would be most grateful if you could contact the surgery to discuss this issue to investigate what happened and to put preventative measures in place to ensure this doesn't happen again. Kind regards Sharon Cooper Practice Manager
