While the medical staff had certainly done a good job in regards to my specific personal circumstance, any other matter involving engagement is brushed to one side. I felt I was not truly listened too and the drive to get me out to get ready for the next patient was a priority. This may be just my experience, but none the less it left me with a question of what to do next. I had a request for a specific blood test dismissed and an inspection of a mole hastily observed, quite the opposite of my previous visit which was much more detailed. How ever, the minor surgery I had performed was in my view, excellent.

  5. Review titled Competent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by IAN MARTIN - Posted on 09 May 2025

Generally you get seen in a timely manner. The staff are helpful and pleasant. Sometimes due workload they can become confused or contradict others, for example on my last examination the registrar mixed up my right arm with my left arm and my bladder with my bowel. I only know this as it was in my NHS report. On another occasion the doctor read my notes to say I had a minor stroke when actually it was a damaged nerve in my arm.

  6. Review titled Great post op service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by George Smith - Posted on 08 May 2025

I had a total knee replacement on 28th March 2025 on the 11th April I had an appointment for the dressing to be changed, I wasn't looking forward to it , the reception I received from the two nurses put me at ease. The nurse who changed the dressing explained everything she was doing and why she would need to see me again. After my second appt. she requested a second opinion from a doctor, who agreed with her diagnosis and to continue with further appts. I last saw her on 1st May when she discharged me. She was very professional, friendly and filled me with confidence. Brilliant thank you .

It is easy to book an appointment and one doesn't have to hold on. The practice phones you back when free to talk. I normally speak to my own doctor, who is very thorough and caring.

  9. Review titled Great practice, staff are super helpful.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I don’t normally leave reviews online but Uppingham Practice have gone above and beyond for my family with the care they have given to us and really deserve a positive review/ recognition. The reception staff are always really friendly and try to help as best as they can. The nursing staff are all lovely but the reason I’m leaving this review is because of how amazing LA and CS are! Apparently you can’t use names in the review, so used initials. They both always have such amazing patience for both me (especially with taking my blood) and my husband (with his various medical issues, taking bloods and cleaning wounds etc) and they always help us in anyway they can, whilst also putting a smile on our face. I honestly felt lost for options and didn’t think that I’d ever be able to have a blood tests due to a severe needle phobia but LA and CS have been absolutely amazing and there support and patience has meant a lot. Also when my husband’s wound was breaking down, they again were amazing and got everything looked at and actioned so he was seen by LRI that day. Which was amazing work and super helpful when we were both very worried/ anxious about it. We are very thankful for all their help and kindness over the last few years. The doctors are very knowledgeable and we’ve always been seen/ called back with in a good time frame. The dispensary staff are very friendly, recognise me when I come in and happily prepare my whole families medications for me to take at once. So the practice as a whole is amazing and I’m thankful that we have such a good and friendly doctor’s practice so close by.

  10. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Chris - Posted on 07 August 2024

I called into the surgery on Monday late morning to see if I could get an urgent appointment for later that day for an ear infection. This followed my call to Emergency Oncology at LRI that morning listing my symptoms and was told by them to arrange a GP appointment for that day or Tuesday morning latest. The Uppingham receptionist could only offer an appointment on Wednesday and advised to try Ashdale Pharmacy next door to see if they could prescribe antibiotics. I am a stage 4 cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy and susceptible to infections which, if not dealt with swiftly can lead to sepsis. I am categorised as a Gold Standard framework patient which doesn’t appear to prioritise any appointments I may need. Ashdale Pharmacy couldn’t help so I ended up going to Corby Walk-in centre where I was seen fairly quickly and prescribed the antibiotics I needed.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us regarding your recent experience with the practice. The Operations Manager has since spoken with you and we are grateful for your time in explaining in more detail the issues you experienced. Our 'trigger' for identifying patients who have additional health needs failed and this has given us the opportunity to review our system and process. We have raised this as an internal learning event so that we may formalise this and implement the necessary changes required. We are very sorry that you have been disappointed with our services and we will endeavour to learn from your feedback.
