Receptionist very helpful in booking in a F2F appointment with my preferred Dr which was great for continuity. Would be helpful to be able to do this online but NHS App doesn’t offer anything for St John’s when I look only smear tests at other Surgeries appear. Wish the app would show longer term appts a few weeks ahead so we could plan time off work to attend. F2F is so much better when you actually see a regular gp in person the quality of care is first class. Highly recommend this surgery reception for booking and gp excellent when you see them but the online booking system NHS app poor never any availability.

The best receptionist I've encountered in Lewisham- S. in St Johns MedicalCentre. Today I had an appointment for the first time in this centre. I had to wait, i was stressed, She took her time to explain oatiently. Efficient, polite and respectful but stern when needed. Very helpful too. Thank you

We have had an extremely frustrating and distressing experience with St John’s Medical Centre. My partner urgently needs to access private diagnostic care due to a potentially serious health condition, and her private health insurer (Vitality) requires a standard NHS GP form confirming no pre-existing conditions. Our private GP completed their part of the form in minutes. However, despite this being a simple administrative task, the practice has now stated it may take up to four weeks to complete. This delay is not only excessive – it is dangerous, given the possible underlying diagnosis. We’ve also been given conflicting information by different members of staff, including being told the forms had been lost. When I visited the practice in person, I encountered a rude and dismissive receptionist, who made no effort to understand or address the urgency of the situation. Shockingly, we were then told the delay is due to a single administrator who appears to be solely responsible for handling these requests. If one non-clinical staff member can block access to care, it speaks to a serious lack of operational resilience and oversight. We are doing everything we can to avoid burdening NHS services by pursuing private care – yet we are being actively obstructed by the very system we’re trying to step aside from. This has been a deeply upsetting experience, and I hope this feedback prompts a serious internal review of your processes.

We understand how important and urgent these administrative tasks can be, especially when they impact access to private diagnostic care for a potentially serious condition. We apologise for any conflicting information you received and for the way you were treated during your visit. This is certainly not the experience we want for any patient. I would like to clarify that private health insurance forms are classed as non NHS work which means work such as this is not done during normal clinical hours it must be completed during allocated time. Our standard turnaround time for non NHS work is 21 working days. I apologise if this was not communicated clearly. This message is just to commend the phenomenal service performed by the burse on16 April 2025. I suffered a deep laceration to my toe and was very concerned about the bandage review due to the time it had been applied and the potential to open the wound or cause much pain when performing the task. The nurse was such a pleasant personality and kept me assured whilst she took her time to ensure the task was performed correctly and free of pain/anxiety - way way beyond her professional responsibility. She definitely needs to be commended for her ‘soft skills’ as well as her hands on nursing skills. Beyond perfect service and extremely appreciated by myself. Please be sure to note this and raise any any performance review, which I know she will have no problem in satisfying and where promotion is considered. I had a lovely experience with a nurse today while having my smear. She was very bubbly, reassuring and supportive. She explained everything very well and took my mind off the procedure. I always have lovely experiences with this nurse over the years and my whole family has also benefitted from her kind, patient, bubbly and bright personality. We all end up laughing and feeling happy under her care. She has a very special way with people and I hope she stays with this practice. Thank you!
