Completed an online form to ascertain which area health authority my mum was under for her Parkinsons and 5 days later received a letter for her referral to the Health Centre in Sandbach. Called in to the practice reception to say this must be a mistake and all she would say is fill in an online form. So now we fill in a form about a form?

  2. Review titled Good Doctors but poor service otherwise

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Stephen Freeman - Posted on 20 March 2024

My wife phoned today at 14.10 to get some important results. Gave up trying to get to speak to someone at 15.23 despite being no 1 on the queue for some considerable time. Anybody there??? Sent an email of complaint, won't be looked at until next week. No wonder people are dissatisfied.

  3. Review titled Poor and unhelpful service

Getting a appointment at this practice is a mammoth task. In the last two weeks I have tired to make 3 appointments one for a small child - first appointmwnr week later second for myself week later and a third for a B12 injection which I used to have every 2 months at previous practice always on time on day which I could make even in the height of the Covid pandemic. Since moving to Holmes chapel practice this have never been on time and somehow they only do them every 3 months and only on a Wednesday with no flexibility after always having them on a Friday. You have to book via there system online which offers no way around the Wednesday you then have to phone up to being told only Wednesday you finally get a spy for a Friday already a week later than b12 is due efffecting health as it’s like it’s 1 month and a week over due. Then you get a text saying canceled with links to Wednesday appointments again this making it over two weeks over due. You speak to the receptionists who are trained in finding no solutions or any shread of anything other than it’s the paicients fault. All they say is well we have offered you a appointment it’s on you if you can make it or not even though it’s 2 weeks later. No solutions offered no other days of the week are apparently available to book for a b12 for the whole of the next month on any other day. I asked if you could go to walk in our anywhere else to get a b12 they could offer no advise. I now have no appointment for the forseable. As a practice to be happy to offer a service where you leave paicents who are already struggling with no appointment even though it was the practice who canceled and advise it’s up to the patient to be flexible to be happy for patients to want to be at another surgery but can’t due to there postcode so are trapped with a service which isn’t helping them keep there help regulated. In December last year I brought my sister to the surgery after a operation for dressing to be changed these were ripped off then advised she would need to provide her own stocking and as she hadn’t brought one to do it herself at home we tired to do this but blood was seeping out of the wounds over her leg so we ended up going to a&e this is unacceptable. If we were able to move my family back to Ashfields in Sandbach I would be we can’t. We are young people I dread to think how the elderly find the service and the do it online so we give you no choices or help approach. A very upset and exhausted patient who doesn’t make complaints lightly especially not for people who look after us however there comes a time when things have to be said and there’s is something not right when it’s like this. All you get is well we offered you something!!! Is this really patient care

  4. Review titled Triage telephone appointment system

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pat Lane - Posted on 26 February 2024

I’d like to say how well this system works. It’s so much more efficient to type your issue than hanging on the line and speaking to someone. Also each time I have had cause to use this system they have got back to me the same day. Fantastic service.

Responsive, caring and a professional practice. The clinicians I have met really listen to my concerns. The service they offer is fast and efficient with rapid access to appointments. The reception staff always seem friendly and helpful.

  6. Review titled Efficient and Helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jennifer Pearson - Posted on 05 September 2023

I contacted the practice online yesterday early afternoon as I had an infection in my finger that was quickly worsening - and they got back to me within a couple of hours for a late appointment with a paramedic. The appointment ran on time, I was able to get a prescription for an antibiotic (the medic even ran out to my car to bring it to me as it came quicker than expected!) and despite the dispensary closing just as I was leaving they went out of their way to fill it for me so I could begin treatment right away instead of having to wait until the next morning. The quick response, kindness and care is much appreciated.

  7. Review titled Thorough and rapid treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda Rudland - Posted on 16 September 2023

Following a thorough and empathetic investigation and review of my symptoms by an excellent locum doctor on 31st August, blood tests were ordered. They revealed a possible life changing condition which needed immediate hospital admission. The practice Gp facilitated this with great speed , efficiency and reassurance which enabled me to gain rapid admission and effective hospital treatment. Both doctors calmly took control of the situation which greatly relieved my high level of anxiety . I cannot thank them enough.

  8. Review titled Bad Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 May 2023

Visiting the nurse for my once a year ‘check up’ I was told the doctor would like to make a telephone appointment with me to talk about my heart and cholesterol. I agreed and would be available at a convenient time to fit in with the doctor. After much searching on the computer the nurse apologised when telling me that she was unable to find a telephone appointment available in May or June. During discussion she also told me that none of the doctors worked full time, also the work at the surgery had deteriorated over the years. I feel that this Health Centre is not doing what an NHS surgery should be doing or even caring.

I am sorry that we left this perception with you. It is fair to state we have been overwhelmed with demand, in line with all parts of the NHS. We do accept there have been difficulties offering a smooth service during the winter period which caused us to turn off our triage function, which meant we had to change our ways of working in terms of GP appointments available to book in advance. But we are about to bring back our triage way of working again and by going live with triage on 05 June 2023 this should manage far better urgent and routine demand and so free up more GP Capacity, which should address your concern. For the record a GP working full time means working 8 sessions. Our full time GPs are Dr Bailoor, Dr Taylor and Dr Dougherty. Other GPs work less than 8 sessions, giving good cover, but surely what matters is that we can offer patients the right level of support, hence a major investment in this year of far more nurse cover, with skills across all levels of care being invested in considerably. Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry we have not been able to sort for you on this occasion the issue you have commented upon, but we have plans to address this. Yours Sincerely Paul Carroll, Practice Manager

I was able to see a doctor this morning about an hour after initially speaking to a receptionist. She was pleasant and helpful as was the doctor . I had a brief phone call and then a face to face appointment shortly after. A positive experience all round . Thank you .

Dear Mr Ball, Thank you for your feedback. I can understand how you may have expected some follow up following your request to arrange a blood test. I am sorry the process was not clarified with you at the time of booking. The practice performs thousands of investigations, particularly blood tests, every year as part of our management of acute and chronic health conditions and monitoring of medications. Unfortunately, we do have the resources to inform every patient about their results, so our policy is to focus on those that require action. These means if results are normal, or require no action, we do not routinely inform patients – no news is good news. However, because we understand that many patient want to know that all is well, we have a dedicated results line that patients can phone to discuss their results with a health professional. Many blood tests for chronic conditions are performed only once a year, and to make it easier for staff and patients we try to arrange these during patients’ birthday month. It saves the practice a lot of extra work if patients note when their test is due and book their annual test, but if we note that it is overdue, we send reminders. A request to arrange a test does not imply that a review will follow; if the results are with normal limits, or unchanged from previous, we are usually happy to leave things until the next annual review is due, unless the patient informs us of any concerns. I can confirm that all your relevant blood tests have been performed during the last few years. Patients may find the actual tests requested may alter from time to time in line with changes to guidance, or in response to changes in medication regimes. If patients have any concerns about their medication or results the best thing is to contact the practice using the online triage service so that someone can get back to them.
