  1. Review titled Obstructive approach to booking appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by james evans - Posted on 24 April 2024

For two days I have been attempting to use the econsult portal to enter my health care issue which hopefully then leads to an appointment being booked in order to diagnose my condition. Day one it was closed to futher access as submission limit for the day had been reached. Day two, today at 3pm, it is again closed due to submission limit. This is not a viable service, this is obstructive and restrictive. My condition is not urgent and I would happily take an appointment in a month...but until I am able to submit an econsult I am unable to move forward. This is not acceptable. As health professionals we have a duty of care. As a "retiree returned" after COVID I feel I have and continue to go beyond what might be expected of me. I see no evidence of similar commitment from the Albion Surgery which, frankly and demonstrably, is currently not fit for purpose. As an IT-literate patient I able able to navigate the various portals in order to move forward. Not all patients are in this position. I fear many will simply give up leading to deterioration of their condition and the need for more complex, expensive treatment. I look forward to your practice manager taking steps to improve the situation at Albion Surgery.

  2. Review titled Hit and miss

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Staff are very helpful when facing issues with prescriptions. However their online appointment tool has been shut for days now. I need to book an appointment but can't. I don't have time to wait half an hour on a phone and the practice has no complaints procedure on their website. Incredibly disappointed

  3. Review titled Excellent surgery

What ever the occasion might be I am always treated with respect. Seeing my doctor, doing an econsult, speaking face to face with reception or on the phone. I could not ask this surgery to improve on anything. I appreciate they all have a difficult job to do and praise, needs to be given when it is well deserved. Well done the Albion and thank you.

  4. Review titled Intimidating experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2023

The two occasions I visited this year were an upsetting, dare I say traumatic, experience with doctors signalling impatience to get through what was worrying me as soon as possible. One even bluntly (without a smile, or an apology) told me to make another booking ‘if I had anything else’ to report as they had no more time (after no more than a few minutes of consultation). This approach left me feeling intimidated, half-listened to and loathe to discuss intimate symptoms having totally lost trust in the process. I do empathise with the very real time constraints and patients must use the few minutes available in the most constructive and efficient manner, but surely the consultation takes no longer if doctors are polite, caring, calm and concerned, making communication more accurate, efficient and fruitful.

  5. Review titled Terrible - Econsult is a poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Amar - Posted on 17 October 2023

Doctors consistently hiding behind E-Consult, you have an issue which needs attention then but they book appointments weeks later or give a diagnosis over the phone when they haven't even examined you. They constantly advise you to got Urgent Care which then puts undue pressure on these services when a Doctor is there for these ailments

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. I would like to reassure you that our clinical team would only advise patients to go to urgent care if they felt this course of action was appropriate. Patients are able to book routine appointments on-line or by telephoning the practice. Patients who require an urgent appointment are required to complete an e-consult form on line to enable the duty clinical team to triage the problem/symptoms, this ensures that patients who need an urgent appointment are seen as priority over patients that do not necessarily need to be seen on the same day. Kind regards Lisa Wilson - Practice Manager

  6. Review titled Lack of Care or Attention

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jo Forde - Posted on 31 October 2023

My daughter had a bad cough for weeks which was getting worse. After a couple of attempts to see someone my daughter was given and appointment with a paramedic, not a doctor, who told her that she should go to urgent care as he did not consider that she needed antibiotics. I phoned the surgery and asked if the duty doctor could call me back as I did not consider that this was right. The doctor called back and declined to see her or help. I took her to urgent care the day after and the doctor there confirmed that she definitely did need antibiotics and by then she was very ill. This was the first time my daughter needed assistance from the surgery in approximately 6 years, we feel very let down by the surgery due to the lack or care and attention received when we really needed it.

I have reviewed your comments thoroughly and after reviewing the notes, I confirm that the patient was not refused treatment. They were signposted to the most appropriate place of care to rule out any serious underlying cause after a face to face consultation with a Paramedic. We are sorry to hear that you found this disappointing but we believed this to be in the patient’s best interest at the time. Paramedics are now utilised within our Practice to provide appropriate access for acute symptoms and work closely with our duty doctor team. If you have any further concerns, I would be happy to arrange a meeting with you and your daughter at the practice. L Wilson - Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Wonderful treatment

On 16.9.23 I had a flu jab, and because I had a fall and was on crutches had problems accessing flu clinic. I was given a chair, and my husband and myself were given jab outside. I wish to praise and thank the extremely charming and efficient nurse and staff who cared for us. We were able to leave the car in full sight, and able to easily access it again. Well done Albion for going above and beyond.

  9. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

As is standard practice across many doctors surgeries now, I complete the econsult form when I require assistance for either myself or my children. I always receive a call back promptly, and where necessary am given an appointment in an acceptable time frame. The doctors are Kind, caring, empathetic, knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you may have. Great surgery!

  10. Review titled Extremely helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kerry Muraszko - Posted on 24 March 2023

I've been in fairly regular contact recently to support my elderly parents. Response times have been really quick and everyone I've spoken to has been empathetic and very helpful. This is hugely appreciated - because I'm aware of the pressures the NHS is under, but am often asking for help with situations that are tricky and sensitive. Thank you so much!
