On [12/01/2025], I received an appointment message on my telephone indicating I had a consultation scheduled for [13/01/2025 AT13.30] with a specialist. Based on the letterhead, I located the address, which pointed to King's College Hospital near Brixton. Upon arriving on time at 13:30, I was informed that my appointment had been cancelled and that it was supposed to take place at Guy's Hospital instead. This miscommunication caused me significant inconvenience, wasted an entire day, and added unnecessary stress to an already challenging health issue. When I sought clarification from the administrative officer at King’s College Hospital, I was told that they could not assist because the appointment was linked to another hospital. I was advised to contact my GP for resolution. Unfortunately, my frustration is compounded by prior experiences with your practice. Despite raising complaints in the past, there seems to be a pattern of deflecting responsibility. I have been waiting over four months for treatment for my rheumatism and have had no choice but to rely on painkillers to manage my symptoms. This is unacceptable and indicates systemic failings in communication and patient care. I request an urgent review of my case and the following actions: A clear explanation of why the appointment details were incorrect and why the cancellation occurred without informing me. Immediate rescheduling of my consultation with a rheumatologist, ensuring there are no further delays. A review of communication practices between your practice and specialist hospitals to prevent such issues in the future.

We understand how important timely care is, especially when dealing with ongoing health issues. After speaking with you on the phone, we established that the fault did not lie with our surgery. It appears the hospital had cancelled your appointment but unfortunately did not inform you directly. We were then sent a message from the hospital asking us to review the referral. The GP reviewed it and intended to arrange a face-to-face appointment with you. However, as you were abroad at the time, you were unable to respond and our text asking you to get in touch went unanswered. We subsequently booked another face-to-face appointment for you, but it was missed as well. The GP has now made a further referral to ensure you get the care you need. We understand how distressing this situation has been and we are committed to improving communication moving forward. If you have any additional concerns or would like further clarification, please feel free to reach out to us directly. I had a great experience at GP Surgery St. James The waiting time was minimal, which made the visit stress-free and efficient. The staff were friendly, professional, and very welcoming, making me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. The doctors and nurses provided excellent care, taking the time to listen to my concerns and offering clear, helpful advice. The quality of service was outstanding, and I truly appreciate the effort they put into patient care. I highly recommend this GP surgery to anyone looking for a reliable and well-organized practice.

I’ve been with the practice for years and I’ve only stayed with them due to lack of other GP practices close to my house. The GPs at St James are generally good, although you can tell that they are over worked (like all GPs ☹️) and I’ve never seen the same GP twice. But the receptionists at the practice are awful, I have never had a good experience, from miscommunication to rudeness to just plain incompetence. Most recently I arrived for my appointment, at the new temporary GP location, on time and was told, very rudely, by the receptionist that I had missed my appointment and that I couldn’t see a doctor. I had an urgent appointment and I needed to see the doctor that day, I explained that I wasn’t late, I was on time for my appointment - I also have a 10 day old baby and was visiting the new practice location for the first time - why could I not see the doctor when I was on time? Surely she could see that I had a same day urgent appointment and that maybe that meant it was important for me to see a doctor, and that I was on time for the appointment??She was very rude and just told me to sit down with no further communication. I’m sure that being a GP receptionist is a really hard job, but surely you need to have basic communication and empathy skills in order to work in this position, at a very basic level all patients should be treated with dignity and respect by the staff at a practice and if you can’t do that then you shouldn’t work in healthcare.

I cam to the reception there were about 4 women on there not even one asked me how can I help you or have you got an appointment the customer service at the reception is very poor you should help people not let them standing there the doctor was excellent!

I am postnatal and heard many stories of poor 6-8week baby and mama checks, so was apprehensive going in. My appointment at St James was excellent. The doctor was attentive and caring and answered all my many questions. I never felt rushed and she gave mama a thorough check up. Even looked into a contraception option for me further after the appointment and called later in the day to discuss it. Would definitely recommend.
