Review titled Appreciation
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I am a repeat prescriber of Atorvastatin tablets 20mg for cholesterol since 2021. All staffs at the medical team are very friendly and caring. Besides, the doctors on the whole are very efficient and professional. Two weeks ago, I was arranged with an X-ray done on my lumber spine at a designated hospital due to my persistent and increasing pain from sciatica. I am now waiting for a revisit once the X-ray result is sent to the doctor for a follow-up treatment. Thank you.

Review titled This is an excellent practice.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mike - Posted on 25 November 2023
It has always been very good and I have said so to others who complain about theirs. When we have really needed their help, over a non life threatening matter, they have always been very responsive, quite often phoning back within the hour and getting us in if necessary. The doctors have always been very good and the other staff equally so. I sometimes find their web page a little complicated, particularly if you are not good at computers, there is lots of steering people to non face to face consultations, which I suppose is a post pandemic change, that for many is a good thing. There are days when you may feel unwell and don’t feel like going out in the cold and wet, maybe by bus, where a video or phone call is just what you want. However, it is important to keep face to face consultations going and they do here. The place is always clean and well looked after. A good practice by any standards.

Review titled no online consultations
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Barry Cumbers - Posted on 12 October 2023
Trying all week to request an online consultation for my wife to obtain a referral to get hearing test, only to be told by system that it is unavailable due to staff shortages. Surely the fact that is online means that this can be done as staff have freer time or out of hours. This surgery seems to use any excuse to not deal with patients either face to face or online and have their online system set up in such a way as to be next to useless, by disabling the appointments and leave a message for GP sections. Now the online consultations is out of action and you cannot get a non urgent onsultation at all. The problem may not be urgent, but that does not mean the patient does not get frustrated trying to do something online which could be dealt with by a face to face or telephone appointment by receptionists passing a message or putting an on screen in house message on GP screen. Since the introduction of the system there is less and less ability to deal with your GP other than as a faceless entity. Next stage will be a docbot AI system leaving the GPs to work from home.

Dear Mr Cumbers I am sorry to hear that you have had difficulty accessing our service, last week was particularly difficult due to clinical staff having Covid and being off work, along with a Devon wide computer system failure completely out of our hands. We tried very hard all week to catch up on cancelled appointments and the backlog caused by the Devon outage. We did do as you suggest, our team worked many hours outside of contract hours to ensure that we continued to provide a safe care to our patients. I am sorry your request regarding a referral for a hearing test was not answered in our usual timely manner, we had to prioritise how to provide safe care for urgent need during this period of time. We will try harder in future.

Review titled Fantastic support
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Z. Nicol - Posted on 20 October 2023
First occasion this month , being pregnant I had a big scare and needed to go up to derriford hospital but quickly discharged. But results from tests were sent to my GP who texted me and had my medication waiting at the local pharmacy for me to pick up. Second occasion my husband noticed a change in a mole on my back. Photo sent into surgery and within 4 days had an appointment at hospital to have growth checked. Appointment was only 3 days after this and has been checked my a consultant and I’ve been given the all clear. I cannot thank the team enough at Peverell for the amazing service and care they’ve given me during and before my pregnancy. Thank you

Review titled No help given
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Helen Reed - Posted on 14 October 2023
I have a growth on my cervix so the doctor initially referred me to the hospital, only to be told there is a 64 week waiting list and I’m not a priority. Because I this I booked in for a smear test to give me peace of mind, only to be told during the appointment that I couldn’t have it done because it hasn’t been 3 years since my last one. I explained about the growth and still was refused any kind of help. If I were a man with a growth on my reproductive parts, I would have been seen immediately! Me and my husband have been trying for a baby for nearly two years and I’m so disgusted with the treatment I have received compared to him. He was given tests immediately with many reassuring phone calls, I had to pay for them privately because no one would help me on the NHS.

Dear Helen, I am sorry to hear you have been effected by the NHS backlog on hospital waits, if you would like to contact me via email I will be able to discuss with you options that might be available to help in the meantime. Smear screening would not be the appropriate route on this occasion. Please email me at teresa.nation@nhs.net

Review titled Treat patients in very personable way. Thorough

Learning disability yearly review followed by first ever blood test. Nervous. Given time to ask questions or have things explained in a way I understand. Good to have all done at doctors surgery, would be more intimidating if blood test in a different place
