  3. Review titled Worst GP surgery in Manchester

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2024

Tried to get an appointment for 3 days now calling over 300 times from 8am every time I get through after 20 minutes I am told there's no appointments left. What has happened to our GP services is they are taking on thousands of patients massively more than they can handle as they are ran as a business not a service by millionaire practice GP owners who get paid per treatment god help us in a years time we will be having fist fights in the car park to get an appointment. Private health care is needed the NHS is finished!!!!!!

Dear Anonymous Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you have had a negative experience. However I can hopefully address some of your concerns below. The practice is going live with our new Telephone system at the end of February which among other features will allow queuing patients to receive a call back when they are at the front of the queue which stops them having to keep telephoning the surgery. We also restructured our appointment system in November which increased our appointments significantly with a mix of Telephone, Face to Face and Digital appointments available and have received positive feedback from patients of these changes. There are other ways aside from telephoning the surgery to make an appointment including via the NHS App or Patient Online Portal, or for non-urgent issues via PATCHS which can be accessed through our practice website. I would like to correct an inaccuracy in your feedback, as GP Surgeries are not paid per treatment. GP Practices are paid an average of £105 per patient per year total, regardless of how many visits or treatments you have from the surgery. The correct information around this can easily be found online from NHS Digital. GP Practices are not allowed to "close their books" to new patient registrations. NHS England dictates this rule, and as a practice we can only apply to stop taking on new patients under extreme circumstances. If you are unhappy with us taking on new patients, I would suggest you raise this complaint with NHS England. I hope this helps to answer your concerns, and as with all patients you have the freedom to register with any GP practice you wish to if you feel we are not delivering to your expectations, or indeed alternatively seek private healthcare should you wish to.

  4. Review titled Good practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I recently had an ECG at the practice- impressive as I didn’t have to go to hospital. The Nurse who carried out the procedure was lovely, calming and so friendly. I got my results within 10 minutes. Thankfully all was well. I believe the new system of booking appointments is so much better than before which was often so frustrating as you couldn’t get an appointment at all despite phoning from 8am. Thank you for your new very much improved service

Thank you for your positive feedback, it is very much appreciated and will be shared with the practice team. We have changed our system of booking appointments, and there is more availability online via the NHS App and PATCHs. We are also going live with our new telephone system at the end of February, which we feel will have a huge impact on our patients trying to get through to the surgery.

  5. Review titled Good experience, as always!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kelly Porter - Posted on 25 August 2023

I have had a few appointments this month for various issues. I have had appointments with three different GP's and all experiences have been fantastic. Each GP took my issues seriously and had two referrals as they felt things needed to be checked out. Always dealt with in a polite, professional and friendly manner. So pleased I moved to this practice.

  6. Review titled Awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Beverley Platt - Posted on 31 August 2023

I have been trying for 4 days now to get an appointment. Today I tried 80 times and I still didn’t get through to even the queuing system. Dysfunctional practice no one answers phone . Surgery always deserted . No chance of getting an appointment for even telephone triage because no one answers the phone before 5.05pm by which time all appointments gone. There must be 1000’s of patients of this practice quietly dying at home because they can’t get to see their GP at this practice . Disgraceful. Why can’t they improve the appointment system

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience has not met your satisfaction. You can currently book telephone and face to face appointments from 8.00am Monday to Friday via telephone, via the NHS App and we also use a routine non urgent online request system called PATCHS. There are also a number of different services across the borough that our Receptionists may be able to signpost you to as you may not necessarily need to speak to a GP. There is also a new Enhanced Access service for Evenings and Weekends which our reception staff can book into in advance. All information is available on our website. Kind regards, Peterloo Medical Centre

  7. Review titled Appalling appointments system.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 August 2023

Latest in a long experience of vain attempts to get an appointment, of any kind, with anyone. This and practically every time we try, we are told to call back at 8am. Even when we get throughh precisely At eight o'clock, we're told No appointments available. Even for triage. I'm old, have a chronic heart condition and worry my next attack may be my last. All above also applies to 'Patchs'.

  8. Review titled Appointment good, everything after shocking!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Sam - Posted on 19 June 2023

Locum doctor seemed very good and attentive. Shared my concerns and described what we were doing to do about it. However after the appointment I realised all the tests the desk had given me were the wrong ones and he’s not prescribed my medication. Now after two times of asking staff to sort and being told a doctor would call to sort it’s not happened. Result is ring back tomorrow and fight for a new appointment to basically start again. I feel like the doctors there are great when you get in, but support staff lack in all areas.

  9. Review titled unavailable appointments and un helpful staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by brenda vickers - Posted on 21 April 2023

No appoinments available, held in a que on the phone over 12 min so by the time someone answers all appoinmets are gon this is at 8.45 am ! Some Staff not all are very un-helpful and talk over you when you are trying to explain your symtoms . Then just tell you to go and find another Drs because you complain about the service . Shocking service not fit for purpose . I wated 8 months to see a Nurse ! And you cannot make an appoinment to see the Practice Manager because they dont do face to face meetings all complaints and issues need to be sent in by email . Also items on your prescripton are often missing another issue

  10. Review titled Frustrated

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 April 2023

I try and avoid going to the doctors, but sometimes you just have to. The last 3 occasions I have tried to get an appointment, has proved to be very difficult. 1st time made 264 calls before I was connected 2nd time 217, 3rd time 238 to then be told no appointments available. Finger on the redial button from 8am. Recently, I received a text to contact the surgery regarding blood tests, when I finally got through, nobody knew what I was talking about. I would like to know how a practice can advertise they are taking new patients when the ones they have cannot get through via telephone or get an appointment.
