I have had to leave this doctors as was just getting nowhere with them!! Get sent to other places aswell.the receptionist with the purple hair should not be in that sort of job her attitude is awful!! In a week of seeing my new doctors had test done! Blood tests taken and the next day get a text from new doctors to call them, booked me in to see a nurse about my cholesterol!! I have had cholesterol problems for years but never have Paxton centre helped me! Just get a text to say your cholesterol is high and that text would be about a week after blood test!! This doctors obviously there is not enough doctors!! And it's all phone calls still? Much happier in my new doctors lovely receptionist aswell!! If could give a no star I would as would not recommend!!

Review titled Lack of care and empathy
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2024
I have been feeling very unwell since the end of February. Trying to get past the receptionists is unbelievably difficult. I have been offered an appointment in 2 weeks time or a telephone in about a week. If you can try to get through at 8.30 in the morning, you may get an appointment. I have been fobbed of week after week an ended up having to go to A & E. After a 7 hour wait, I was diagnosed with a severe chest infection. I now have the medication needed and am awaiting a CT Scan. I feel totally let down by Paxton Medical Group, there seems to be a lack of empathy with the patients needs. A little like, "the computer says no". I am sorry, but what happened to patent care.

Hello, We're sorry you've had a negative experience with us. Every morning we have over 60 face to Face & Telephone appointments to give out, the average wait for pre-bookable appointments is around 7 days, which is quicker than the current NHS guidelines of 2 weeks. We do constantly monitor our appointment system to try to improve the availability wherever we can. We would like to look into your specific case more thoroughly but unfortunately your review is anonymous so we're unable to look into this for you. But if you could contact us to provide your name and date of birth we can investigate it further. Best wishes, PMG

Review titled Excellent- Best GP Surgery I've ever attended
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sandra - Posted on 03 April 2024
Was seen by a lovely male GP, who really listened to me. Was prepared to here all my symptoms, explained very clearly what he thought it could be but sent me for blood tests to reassure himself and me. I have always been treated respectfully by the medical staff and receptionists i had an appointment with one Dr. who I was not impressed with and would not want to be seen again by them. Excellent surgery though,

Review titled Thank you
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Unfortunately I cannot formally name the Doctor who carried out my fostering medical. However the recommended a low dose of Statins medication in order to combat high Cholesterol levels. Initially I was very reluctant to take any form of medication. Nevertheless the Doctor informed me of the positives regarding controlling my cholesterol levels with this small intervention. I want to thank the Doctor because I feel absolutely revitalised since starting this medication. My skin has improved, my memory appears improved too, my energy levels have increased significantly. All in all I feel fabulous. My trepidation and resistance regarding taking any form of medication has greatly reduced. This tiny little pill has made such a difference to me, thank you to the lovely Doctor in question for changing my overall health and wellbeing in such a positive way. Kindest Wishes Mrs Gaynor Kingsley Winder.

Review titled Unpleasant experience

Good Morning, I am very disappointed with the advice provided by receptionists on few occasions. On the first one , about 2 weeks ago, I was advised to complete the travel risk assessment form on GP Surgery website which I did and I was advised to wait for the call from nurse to discuss my case as I am travelling abroad. I did not get any call back from nurse. On second occasion, about a week ago, I was advised to contact Tropical School of Medicine for further advice. Today, on 03.01.24, I rang GP Surgery at 10:40 for further updates, advice but I was told by receptionist who did not want to give me her name ( all receptionist names are available on GP Surgery website), that GP does not prescribe particular medication for my travel issue and they do not deal with travel advice anymore, and was advised to contact international travel clinic for further advice. I found these advises very unprofessional as I have lost already 2 weeks and completed the travel risk assessment form as was initially advised 2 weeks ago, not received any call back from nurse and now left without any medical advice, only advised by receptionist to contact international travel clinic. I am not sure why GP Surgery gives so wrong advice and who will be taking responsibility for any of my health problems if happened while being abroad. Thank you.

Review titled Great practice rude receptionist
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 January 2024
I have been with this practice for many years and have always had positive experiences, the GPs, nurses, HCAs and most of the reception staff are extremely helpful. I always leave positive feedback. However, I do find occasionally that dealing with reception staff sometimes can be quite difficult. I called today to re-book in for some tests and when stated what it was, I was then asked a number of questions and why I needed it. These tests had previously been booked in and I reiterated what the GP had said but the receptionist continued to state that it wasn't documented. I advised to look at my cancelled appointments and asked to be booked back in. I have anxiety and find it difficult to deal with things most days and takes a lot of time to build up to call places, particularly anything related to health or other professions and this made me feel uncomfortable and belittled. I usually tend to use online services to avoid the front of house reception staff as it can be unpredictable. However, the surgery is still a fantastic place and I feel overall you are treated kindly and feel listened to.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're glad that overall you feel you have had positive experience's with us but we're obviously disappointed to hear about the issues raised in regards to reception. Our receptionist are under strict orders from the senior clinical staff to ensure they ask questions rather than just book in. This is due to our Dr's and Nurses having different specialties, so one Dr or Nurse may be better suited to deal with a particular issue compared to another. That being said we understand it can be frustrating for patients especially if this isn't explained accurately during the call. If that is the case we sincerely apologise. If you would like us to look into some of these instances more thoroughly please contact the surgery and ask to speak to the Practice Manager, Pauline Fletcher. Best wishes, PMG

Review titled Receptionist
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Good afternoon I wanted to highlight my experience Tuesday morning while waiting for my appointment. I sat the the waiting room for over 30 mins and in that time I saw the receptionist go above and beyond in Claughton medical centre. She was so lovely to everyone she spoke to and went above and beyond for others that were elderly or vulnerable. She welcomed people by their name if she recognised them. Booked them in as they went to approach her or the screen to save their legs etc. She was cheerful and just happy in general. Please pass in the feedback Kind regards Racheal

I was able to chat about a more complex process of booking two foster children for treatment from the gp. front of house receptionist was extremely helpful and called for more advice from a colleague regarding the matter. I did feel sorry for the receptionist who was on her own coping with a queue of people with queries (a queue which simply kept growing). Poor woman didn’t get time to take a sip of water, I decided to wait till there was a break in the stream of people, however I could see she was under pressure on her own on the desk. nevertheless the lovely receptionist was polite, helpful and found the correct solution needed to progress the appointment for my foster children.

Review titled Excellent practice

Over the past month I have had need to contact the surgery several times due to a severe infection. I have been helped personally by the practice manager in sorting out a medication problem, both swiftly and emphatically. My thanks. I have also been seen twice, in good time and received follow up phone calls from doctors. At all times the doctors in question were professional, concerned and sympathetic. I was given full support and treatment and at all times, treated as an individual with my own particular needs. I have been a patient of this medical centre for 40 years. Things have changed over the years, both positively and less so. However, at all times, I have found the overall service and range of professional advice available to be excellent. I would recommend this practice wholeheartedly. My thanks.

Review titled thoughtfulness
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Richard Cooke - Posted on 07 November 2023
Last Friday,3rd November my wife and I called into the practice. My wife's medical condition means that she often forgets details and last week she had forgotten to renew her prescription in good time before running out of meds. We explained this problem to the receptionist who promised to mark the renewal form as "urgent" and to pass it on for signature and processing. On Saturday morning I called at the pharmacy next door and was told that the authorization had arrived on Friday, and the meds were prescribed there and then. This was a great relief to my wife and prevented what might have been a weekend full of worry and concern. We feel that this display of efficiency and cooperation from staff in various functions deserves full credit. We are very relieved to be attached to services which are so well run for the benefit and comfort of their patients. We are very grateful to all those concerned.
