Review titled Good GP Surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Emily Michaelides - Posted on 07 February 2025
I had to lean heavily on my GP surgery in December 2024 after a fall. I was quite badly injured and it is thanks to Park Lane Surgery that I got the help I needed (X-ray, blood tests, medication). Staff were helpful and the doctors were great. Yes there can be issues getting appointments and suchlike, but isn’t it the same everywhere? The surgery is a vital part of our community, I certainly value and appreciate it.

Dear Ms Michaelides Thank you for your review. I am so glad that you are happy with the service at Park Lane Surgery. I agree that at times it can be difficult obtaining an appointment; however, this is a national problem as the patient demand for appointments out numbers the number of appointments that we are able to safely provide. I appreciate that you value and appreciate the surgery. With kindest regards Helen Conaghan Practice Manager

Review titled Poor Service unhelpful reception staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 January 2025
Having been a patient there for a number of years when the service was excellent Over the last couple of years, it's been very difficult to and on various times impossible to get through to make an appointment, when you your met by unfriendly and unhelpful reception staff, having tried in the last couple of days to make an appointment I was met with the usual excuse all the appointments had gone for the day, I asked if I could could get the one the following day or next day, but was told I had call in when the lines opened at 8am,which as we know is virtually impossible to get through, I was told I could use your online service to book an appointment but myself like many others don't have a computer and I don't want one, I was told most people use the online service now which is taking the telephone appointments ones virtually impossible I got the usual answer from the reception staff that your very busy all the time, well whenever I have been able to get appointment or a blood test the waiting room is nearly empty. Shame it used to be a good doctors practise but not anymore I'm afraid, and to be perfectly honest cant see it getting any better

Dear Patient Can I please check that your review was for Park Lane Surgery in Broxbourne? We operate a triage system and the reception staff complete the Consult Form for any patients that do not have access to computers. This system enables appointments to be made for non-urgent medical issues. If you do require urgent medical care and if our appointments have been booked up for the day, you would be signposted to another healthcare professional. At Park Lane Surgery our priority is ensuring that patients receive the medical care needed, weather at the surgery or elsewhere. Best wishes, Helen Conaghan Practice Manager

Review titled 50+ years without ever a complaint
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Elizabeth Brown - Posted on 16 October 2023
My husband and I signed onto the practice over 50 years ago and have been delighted with the medical treatment and help we have received throughout that time which has been excellent. My husband died recently, but he had received regular monthly visits and the best of care from the doctor. which was a great help to him and to me! I am so grateful to the Practice Manager, office staff, nurses and all the doctors too, for all the help they have given. I would not hesitate to award 5 stars to this practice.

Review titled Can’t get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Jackie Dally - Posted on 30 May 2023
Today I called the surgery to try to make an appointment for my very ill husband I started calling at 8.00am and was cut off 18 times until finally at 8.43am I was told all the appointments had gone. I was actually in the surgery whilst I was doing this and the receptionist could not help me to get an appointment. I finally broke down in tears and one of the nurses took me into her office but no appointment was given. I was told I would have to go through the whole procedure again tomorrow or take my husband to A & E. Why oh why is it so difficult to see a GP? I was told there was only 2 GP’s working today. This cannot continue you cannot treat people like this.

Dear Ms Dally I am sorry that you are unhappy with the service provided. As explained in my letter to you on the 15 June 2023. As your husband needed emergency medical assistance, the advice you were given by a nurse was to go to A&E and not to be booked in to see a GP as A&E deal with medical emergencies. Kind regards Helen Conaghan Practice Manager
