  1. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Eileen Devlin - Posted on 07 February 2025

I attended a medication review with the nurse practioner in Dec 24. I mentioned in passing that I had been experiencing some mild chest pain and slight breathlessness, over the past few months, but nothing major, that would have propmted me to pursue an appointment with the G.P. The nurse practitioner suggested that we rule out anything serious first. I was referred for a 24 hour E.C.G. From there, within 6 weeks, I have been booked in for a heart bypass and valve replacement. If the nurse practitioner had not persuaded me that this may not just be indigestion, I would never have known I had this significant problem and would not have found out until it was maybe too late. Since then, the G.P. has kept me up to date with progress of referrals, prescribed appropriate medication and supported me throughout. I have never had an issue with accessing the help I need and the support staff have always been polite and helpful when I've called. The service at that time and since has, been excellent, efficient, caring and supportive, so a massive thanks to everyone at Park House.

  2. Review titled Neglectful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Linda - Posted on 24 May 2024

I asked for a telephone consult only to be triaged by God knows who and denied. Told to ring for an appointment. Can you get one? No. Ring for 45 minutes over 350 calls to be told none left. Make a prebookable one they say only to be told cant do it that far in advance( 2 weeks away) none left for the doctor you need to see when you ring when they say. Just want a phone consultation. Days/weeks to sort a health issue. Disgusting. If a patient wants a telephone consultation they should have one then the doctor can decide after the call if a face to face is needed. So simple.

Thank you for your lovely response but I fear you have left it on the wrong surgery! :-) We are Park House Medical Centre in Prescot - not St Helens. But thank you for leaving such a lovely review, am sure they will appreciate it. N Raby, Practice Manager

They never answer the phone and their way of booking appointments is rubbish, it doesn't work and needs to change. I'm fed up I need an appointment and I can't contact anyone because they won't answer the bloody phone.

Dear Anon, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about the Surgery. I am sorry that you felt the need to address your issues on a forum as opposed to raising them with me directly. You may have heard, as all patients received a text last week, that we are now allowing patients to prebook appointments up to 4 weeks in advance as well as being able to access same day medical services. I do hope that this comes as a welcome improvement for you and that you are now able to book ab appointment to be seen. I must also note that we have very few "dropped" calls, indeed the most recent call data I have shows that in the month of October, we answered 93% of all calls, with a total of 473 unanswered or dropped by the caller which averages 23 calls a day, so I would respectfully disagree with your claim that "no one answers the phone" as the data proves otherwise. Happy to discuss and show the data to you if you would like to contact me at the Surgery to discuss this further. Nicola Raby, Practice Manager nicola.raby@nhs.net

  6. Review titled Booking appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 November 2023

Called in at 8am in person to make an appointment only for another waiting patient to note a poorly displayed sign that only telephone appointments accepted as from 1/10/23 - she was employed and had told her employer she couldn't be in for 8.30 start. Rang 8 times whilst stood by reception area - my call couldn't be taken or line busy...I was told by the receptionist to keep ringing and I'd get through (eventually). The practice has all our addresses, emails, mobile numbers etc so why isn't a change to booking system not advertised prominently: rather than allowing patients to make wasted journeys? Now made approximately 15 calls - still cannot get through - off to Huyton Walk-in.

Dear Anon, Thank you for your feedback. I apologise that we have not communicated the change in access to all patients. We are very conscious of bombarding patients with texts at this time of year given that it is flu/COVID season and so it was decided that as the majority of patients were coming down to surgery to queue, that we would make a notice informing of the change which thus far has worked well. The notice was put out in September to give patients ample notice. We are trying to allow for as much equity as possible by only allowing appointments to be booked at the front desk from 9am onwards. This then means it is fairer for all to be able to access appointments for that initial first hour via the telephones. I am sorry that this did not meet your expectations and hope that you were able to be seen at the Walk In Centre. At time of writing (14.29pm) we have 2 telephone access appointments left so had you persevered, you would have been able to make an appointment for today. Please know we are always trying to improve access for our patients and that every change we implement, ultimately has the patients satisfaction as the overall aim. If you feel there is anything we could do differently please contact me and we can discuss the options available. Thank you again for taking the time to leave feedback, I would like to hope that you can give us the chance to improve your experience and as a result of your feedback I will now send a reminder text to all registered patients who have opted into receiving messages, of our change in appointment policy. Thank you Nicola Raby Practice Manager nicola.raby@nhs.net
