A member of the reception team phoned me to tell me that the duty Dr had assessed my triage form and told me that they wanted me to go to A&E for the issue. In my opinion this most definitely wasn’t an A&E issue. When I tried to ask why I couldn’t be seen at NGP, the receptionist kept talking over me. I asked if I was allowed a 2nd opinion, only to be told by said receptionist that the 2nd Dr would only say the same. I told said receptionist that she was prejudicing my appointment by making such a statement. This infuriated the receptionist who then proceeded to talk over me once more and told me she was very busy with other things and said goodbye and hung up. I eventually got a call back from another member of the reception team later that evening to apologise after listening back to the telephone conversation. In the meantime, I had sourced a private consultation for my condition which I couldn’t get seen with at NGP and was told that there was no reason what’s so ever that NGP could not have dealt with this problem and it was most definitely not an A&E situation. It feels more and more than NGP is ran on skeleton staff. There are minimal GP’s in the surgery and they are obviously overstretched. The reception staff that I dealt with were obviously undertrained and overwhelmed. All this has a knock on impact to the heart of the surgery, which are the patients!! My previous experience at NGP was equally awful. I walked in to ask for a copy of recent blood test and was told by a member of reception that they hadn’t been checked over by a GP yet and therefore they weren’t available. I then asked the receptionist how did she know that when she hadn’t even asked me my name or date of birth prior to giving me that information? Do surgeries have a governing body who inspect them like ofsted do with schools? If not. Why not? These are actual lives they deal with and it appears they answer to no one.

I attended to review a recent blood test for my thyroid. No action was required but another test within the next 3-6 months. Other medication was discussed for my cholesterol levels and pain relief and a further appointment was made for a complete review of meds in a fortnight.

No problem trying to make an appointment, with kind,considerate, and helpful staff. Also received the appointment with the doctor when it was possible.

I was sent my annual invitation and the process from start to finish was efficient. I selected my appointment date and time. I turned up early and was seen on time. I was concerned about feeling as if I was coming down with a cold. The nurse took my temperature and reassured me I could still have the vaccine. It was then given to me. A straightforward process

Was supposed to go for an appointment at the practice but had already discussed my diabetes control (good) with one of the GPS so was telephoned to say it wasn't necessary. Saved me a trip to the surgery and freed up the nurse for other patients.

Have severe back pain through decorating .Did online gp request this morning was telephoned at 10am offered same day appointment with practioner ,which I never knew was a service ,so thankful for appointment. He was absolutely polite and dealt with my back gave great advice and even booked me in for next week to check how my back is ,what a great service as I really didn't need a doctor so this was even better a person who specialises in backs brilliant .

Dear Linda, Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of our First Contact Practitioners (FCP’s). FCP’s are a key member of the practice staff. They have longer appointments than GP’s and can provide specialised advice without having to wait for a referral to be processed.
