  1. Review titled Not good

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 May 2024

Have been here 20+ years. Was a great little surgery, now not so good. You can never get on e consult, ring at 8.30 for appointment, to be 23rd in queue, so do call back, 50 minutes later get call to say no appointments left, and to go to a&e. Go to a&e, get urgent referral, told to contact gp, can't get on e consult, on 3rd attempt get on e consult to be told it needs to be an urgent phone call, so rang surgery, on hold for 30 minutes, explained situation, told no urgent appointments left, explained that am at work from 8am to 4.30 and its very difficult to get on e consult at the times given or to ring and be on hold 30 minutes. Was told its not urgent if I'm if still working! Told I could go to a Sunday surgery in hove and I asked is it a walk in, never heard of this so I didn't understand, was told by receptionist 'I'm trying to help you' as if I was being difficult! Despite being days trying to get on e consult and phone, on hold forever, I was polite and just needing help, felt pretty upset at some of the comments and general attitude of the receptionist.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with your experience and felt upset by your interaction with the staff at MOMC. Our receptionists are trained and try hard to help our patients access health care. At times our appointment at MOMC are at capacity and there may be other options that we can suggest. If you would like to address this further or get further information, please do contact the surgery directly. Regards MOMC

  2. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Howard Blanks - Posted on 09 May 2024

I had a swollen toe, which was spreading to my foot. The receptionist who dealt with me was professional, polite and showed empathy and triaged me for a phone appointment before 1pm on the same day (despite the surgery being really busy - I was call no. 26 and as promised I was given a ring back to save me holding on the phone). Got a phone call from the doctor an hour later enabling me to give a brief description and she offered to see me at 10am that same morning. The Doctor diagnosed the issue and ordered a blood test via the appointment and results came back the same day and a prescription written by the end of the day and sent to Wells Pharmacy (next door). In my experience this doctors surgery is ‘first class’ with also a special mention to the clinics which form a programme of yearly blood and urine tests (amongst others). They are a real credit to the NHS. This is compared to other stories I hear from friends comparing Mile Oak clinic to others, the Mile Oak clinic is always head and shoulders above anyone else’s experience. On a negative note, the excellent work at the surgery I felt was let down by the pharmacy next door who told me that even though they had my prescription was with them at 4pm (Thursday), it would not be ready until Monday!! Fortunately, common sense prevailed and they agreed to Friday mid day. I realise they are busy (pharmacy were uncontactable by phone) - but 4 days for a prescription is poor! This was my second issue with Wells after previously paying and ordering a vaccine on line. Gave up with this in the end.

  3. Review titled Not helpful

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Leonie Yaffe - Posted on 20 May 2024

It would be helpful to have the original timetable on website showing the days that doctors are in surgery to take calls. It would save holding in a quieu for half an hour or more, just to find out that the doctor you needed to talk to is not in surgery. As mine is a ongoing issue I like to have continuity of care.

  4. Review titled Pharmacist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jim Walker - Posted on 22 February 2024

At my Doctors suggestion I received a call from the practice Pharmacist to discuss future possible medication. She gave me freely of her time without any rush, to go into detail of what I could expect and to give me detailed information and answered all my questions to help me make an informed decision. She was very considerate and a pleasure to speak to, we had a lovely chat and she said she wanted to add years to my life which I thought was lovely, and basically, what you all at the practice are trying to do for your patients. Many thanks to her, and to my Dr for his support and guidance.

  7. Review titled Fantastic service

Popped into surgery without an appointment as had very sore foot and needed to see the Physiotherapist. The lady was fully booked with patients but the lovely receptionist kindly referred my request to have an x ray to the Physio who texted me within 30 minutes to confirm she had sent a referral to the Polyclinic and that I could go there when I wished! I had the x ray within the hour and within a couple of hours the result was with the Physio and I was informed and an appointment to see the Physio was arranged for me as well. Absolutely first class work from everyone, as is always the case with my surgery. Many thanks, Jim W

  8. Review titled No compassion or care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 May 2024

Receptionists consistently rude and unhelpful, making patients feel a burden. Over prescribed a medication that has now led to further health issues. Been treated for now resolved condition not what was making me ill which I only found out via hospital admission. Never see same Dr twice, which would be fine but communication is nonexistent between colleagues. No one ever seems to be interested in listening to issue, signs or symptoms. Can never get an appointment despite calling when surgery first opens. E-consults always at capacity. Turned up for an appointment to be told I wasn’t on the system despite having confirmation text. Appreciate resources are under pressure but this surgery continuously let patients fall through cracks, which leads to more strain on system as people then rely on ambulsnce service and end up admitted to hospital. Would never recommend this surgery - no care, compassion, communication or willing

  9. Review titled Helpful service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lisa Williams - Posted on 12 January 2024

Since joining the practice my NHS App and SystmOnline app were not working. I contacted reception to see if anyone could help me. The Reception Manager promised to look into it and call me back. Over the course of three days she called me to update me daily on what was happening and that she was still working on getting it up and running contacting various people and help desks for me. She could have easily decided not to call back or to give up but she didn’t and got the apps working for me to access them, but after that she also got my partners app to work too. I can’t thank her enough as we had tried so many times ourselves and had not been able to resolve what the problem was. Really impressed had she went beyond what most people would have done. Thank you.

  10. Review titled Great reception

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2023

Just spoke to the reception about something I thought I might talk to the Dr about but didn't want to waste anyones time as it was about a sore foot I woke up with and left me hobbling a bit. She was so nice and suggested I could arrange to see a physio when next available and probably have a tel call with. The lady checked to see when it could be done and I was delighted and relieved to have something in place for after Xmas, hopefully would be all better by then anyway. Thank you, so professional and friendly, it was a pleasure dealing with her! Always found everyone at Mile Oak a lovely group of people. Many thanks, you do a very difficult job and it is very appreciated. Jim
