Review titled 22 days is a long time to wait for appt to check for a yeast / bacterial infection
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 April 2025
Usually, im happy with the surgery, but on this one occasion, I am sadly not. I submitted online request and outlined symptons, it flashed up my symptons may need emergency treatment so did I want to still submit request, which I did as I knew I did not require A & E, I had no fever, no chills, my temperature & blood pressure all normal, I do think the word 'rash' is a red flag and rightky so that caused the automated check part to flag up go to A & E, but I knew I just have symptons of possible yeast infection or bacterial as just underwent 8 days of antibiotics, which followed a week spent in hospital with a catheter in for 7 days.. Then once my request had been triaged by a human being I was sent an appt for 22 days time, 22 days is a long time to wait for an appt to swab to see if I have a yeast or bacterial infection. Admittedly when I submitted my request on morning of 07/04/2025, I stated wouldn't be available for a F2F after 1pm on 08/04/2025 - 5pm 11/04/2025 but could take telephone appt during those couple days. I did not expect appt straightway but thought I'd get one maybe for Saturday 12th or even the following week with a nurse or GP but to wait 22 days for appt booked 29/04/2025 I think is too long. NHS states not to self diagnose a yeast infection in case it's bacterial, so get a GP to assess & prescribe the right treatment in case antibiotics are needed. I submitted a further request at 2pm same day 07/04/2025 outlining the morning request just explaining a bit more , no A & E suggestion this time flagged up, and I stated if possible could I please have my appt bought forward from 29th April as I would cancel going away and be available all week for a F2F. GP surgery closes at 6.30pm, and I received no reply .It's now 12 hours later, 2am early hours of the 08/04/2025 and. I probably won't get a reply til sometime today . I cancelled my plans anyway. I'm just stunned that I was given an appt for 22 days' time for a possible yeast infection, especially when the initial request flashed up. I may need to seek A & E . Obviously, if I needed A & E, I would go there, but I know my symptoms did not require that. I would just like to be checked sooner than 22 days time. If they cannot bring my appt forward I will have to cancel it and request an on the day one.

Review titled After a few wobbles getting a appt , I have one now.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tina - Posted on 08 April 2025
Im the first to give 5 stars when applicable and today Longfields get 5 stars. Had a few wobbles getting an appt as I needed one sooner than later, partly my own doing as I was unavailable for couple days which I knew would limit me for appts so I changed plans in the hope of getting a on the day or at least a appt this week. I also hadn't noted that Patchs can take 72hrs to respond, I'm used to a reply within a few hrs once a request is submitted. Anyway staff have been great once I requested a sooner appt they kindly managed to bring it forward by 6 days but that being still 8 days away and my issue already running for 16days so far I sent further request and I can happily say that Longfields managed to give me a on the day appt as someone had cancelled theirs . I'm very grateful and hoping I haven't been too much of a nuisance with requests this past 24hrs. Worth noting that via Patchs replies can take upto 72hrs to respond so I'm fully aware of that now, though usually I do get replies from Longfields within couple hours , like I did today .

Review titled Absolutely abysmal surgery
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 January 2025
I have my friend writing this as I’m embarrassed to say I’m dyslexic , I had a triple heart bypass feb 2023 I need regular blood tests because of the medication I’m on so it doesn’t effect my organs, tried to book a blood test only to be told that the dr needs to see me , the receptionist told me I have to book the appointment through patches , I explained I’m dyslexic and I can’t understand what to do , her reply come down and we will show you how to use it , I’m sorry but I’m dyslexic I replied but she was still stating that I need to go down to the surgery and they will show me, she said it didn’t state that on my medical records that I have learning difficulties I’ll find that insulting as why would it be on your medical records, all she kept saying she was sorry there was nothing she could do but if I have problems to ring the surgery, I explained I am ringing the surgery to which she replied. I’m sorry there’s nothing I can do because of my heart operation I still have trouble with my heart as I have another blocked artery and im stressing and getting chest pains again all because they don’t understand , that people out there do not understand how patches work , and it’s stressful for them , I’m now gonna have to ask my friend if he can do it for me , why take on more patients, when you can’t cope with the ones you already have , absolutely disgusting

Dear Patient. We thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you have experienced difficulties. Blood tests do require authorising by a clinician before an appointment can be offered. If you are non-digital this can be recorded so a member of reception can help with completing Patchs requests.

Review titled Shame on you ...
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Shame on you,... - Posted on 24 September 2024
I am extremely frustrated with the process to see a gp, Patches is difficult to use, my blood pressure goes through the roof, it causes such upset, don't tell me this process is progress! I feel for anyone in the Maldon community who is feeling unwell, and trying to see a GP in person, I am important, my well being is important, this process is not working! I am lost for words, so frustrating, best I say no more! Shame on Longfields for treating the community this way, with a complete lack of understanding, I feel for the staff who have to work customer facing, I hope they get support when things get to much.

Review titled Getting Worse
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Monty - Posted on 29 September 2024
The Longfield practice seems to be run by Practitioner Associates rather than GP’s as you are rarely allocated a GP for a Patches appointment. All well and good for basic ailments until you need a prescription and need to start the medication straight away. The AP needs to get the prescription signed off which can take some time, as in hours. Not much use to the patient is it.

Review titled Special thanks to Pharmacist
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Tara - Posted on 11 August 2024
Although I agree with all the posts on here about the terrible booking service and unavailability of appointments this review is purely for a lady from the pharmacy[ not allowed to give her name). Since a major operation last year I have been so surprised that she has regularly called to check up on and change my prescription if needed, very rare nowadays to not have to chase these things, so wanted to say a massive thank you to her .

I've been trying to book an appointment for weeks!!! Why on earth does it say your taking on new patients when you cannot accommodate the ones you already have? Absolutely disgraceful system.

Review titled Terrible booking sysytem
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2024
Tried multiple times to get an appointment over the last few weeks. On the most recent occasion all appointments were literally 2 seconds after going live at both the 8am and 1pm appointment release sessions. I was ready online at least 15mins before and still failed to get an appointment. Tried for a week and a half and have now given up. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. The new Patchs system is terrible. At least the old way you stood a chance of getting an appointment. This way is a case of the one with the quickest refresh button gets through. Terrible. Patients are being hung out to dry with no way of getting the support they need. Try and phone up and explain the issue and just get told to use Patchs.

Review titled Poor appointment system
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Billy parker - Posted on 10 April 2024
I share the frustration of so many patients where the patches system to book appointments is flawed. I have tried to make an appointment via patches and in 3 weeks cannot make one. 8am and 1 pm are the only options and by the time you try to make an appointment , there all gone and it happens every day.
