Tried to book an appointment for a non emergency visit. Nothing avalable even though the hospital Consultant has said come back to see me in needed. Something very wrong if a Consultant wants to see me but the GP is not available to refer. Truly "Catch22

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, as with any anonymous post, it is very difficult to offer a reason why this situation has occurred. If a consultant has said that you can go back to see him, this is usually achieved by contacting his secretary. However, please allow us the opportunity to look into this further, as this might help other patients too. You can do this by contacting our surgery via email at lsmp.d82037@nhs.net. Or by telephone us on 01508 530781 and asking to speak to the Practice Manager. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.

  2. Review titled No appointments and poor advice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Elderly lady - Posted on 05 June 2024

I have painful arthritis, so bad I cannot sleep. For 3 days trying to get an appointment but told nothing available for next 2 weeks and I can't have one beyond this. I asked the receptionist what I could do and she told me to go to the pharmacy in Long Stratton. I did this and they told me that suitable medication requires a doctors prescription. What do I do, I'm struggling with the pain.

  3. Review titled Treat you like a child & don't listen.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Had to cancel a couple of blood test appointments because I've been unfit to attend, explanation given to receptionist. The result of this is my life dependant repeat prescription has been cut to 7 days supply adding unwarranted extra stress & additional cost to the NHS of shipping small amounts. This is appalling manipulation & amounts to having my legs smacked for being unwell. This may work for some, but has the opposite effect on me & does little to ease the pressure on my wife in all this.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately it is very difficult to comment on an anonymous post. Some medications we prescribe require you to have regular blood tests to make sure they are not causing harm. If a patient does not attend for their monitoring we can refuse to issue the medicines if we do not have these results, to ensure you are safe. However, in most cases the decision is to reduce the issue to weekly until the test has been done. We do record all of our phone calls, so if you have made a receptionist aware that you have been unfit to attend, then we do need to investigate this, so please allow us the opportunity by contacting our surgery. If you would prefer to email us please send this through to lsmp.d82037@nhs.net. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Just can't get an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 February 2024

Last week the surgery asked people to avoid ringing before 9.15 unless an urgent appointment was required. So, I rang at 9.15 and was 29th in the queue. When I eventually spoke to a receptionist, there were no appointments available over the next 2 weeks and they are not allowed to book beyond that. I have had a letter from the hospital which asks me to discuss a matter with my GP but how do I do this if I can't get an appointment?

  5. Review titled Concerning

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Sue - Posted on 08 March 2024

I phone to make an appointment last week, in the afternoon, after id got home from work and was told i would have to ring after 8:15am the next day as there were no appointments left, i told the person on the phone that i am driving every morning at that time on my way to work, i was asked if I had hands free phone in my car so i could ring and make an appointment whilst i was driving!! I really don’t think your staff should be encouraging people to use their phones whilst driving hands-free or otherwise. i explained why i wanted to see a doctor and that i didn’t have to be that day but i was told that there were no bookable appointments left at all in the near future! i was also told I would only be able to book an appointment in the mornings as all the appointments have been booked up by lunchtime! it is very difficult for me, and other people like me who work, to get to a telephone whilst at work, I work as an l,s,a, one to one, in a primary school, with an autistic child and I have know time to leave the child to make phone calls, most times when I do ring the surgery I’m kept on hold for over 15 minutes before I even get to speak to someone! How am I supposed to be able to book an appointment to see my GP if I’m unable to use a telephone between the hours of 8am to 2:30pm? I’m sure I’m not the only person in this situation, lots of other people need to talk to their GP about something. I think it would be a good idea to keep some bookable appointments for people who cannot phone the surgery until the afternoon. That way everyone can have the chance to see their doctor!

  6. Review titled Ridiculous waiting times

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Georgina Burgess - Posted on 10 May 2023

Today I’ve had to wait 45 min twice. Once for my 3 year old and second for me. With my 3 year old waiting and getting irritated. Second time I still didn’t even get to see the dr. It is ridiculous! You can’t get an appointment with a dr and if you do manage to get one the wait is horrendous. 1 1/2 hours waisted in there today.

top notch ★★★★★ Rated 5 stars out of 5 by soph - Posted on 09 March 2023 From an ECG and bloods to a consultation with my GP (who, incidentally is second to none), medication and a referral, the whole process was seamless. Mix in masses of knowledge, explanation of processes and oodles of kindness and you've got perfection. Thank you to my GP and the lovely nurses and staff. Visited March 2023

  10. Review titled Swan Lane Surgery. Amazing Doctors and staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christopher Bartlett - Posted on 01 February 2023

I 'm just posting a small review. Whilst the entire Medical profession is not an ideal situation, I always find the Receptionists, Doctors, Nurses and staff to be amazing. They are always helpful and try their very best to help us when we need them. It is not always possible to get the appointment we would like but with the limited resources and increased workload I know they are doing everything in their power to help us all. So, a big thanks to all you it is truly appreciated
