I had a appointment with the nurse for a checkup on my COPD, I didn't have to wait for very long only 5 minutes over the time of the appointment and had no problem with arrival and leaving the practice, lovely people.

Very good. Seen promptly by nurse for appointment for injection. She managed to get GP to see me un-arranged regarding continuing cough & cold and to prescribe antibiotics.

Review titled Quick response to e-consult
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 November 2024
I completed an e-consult at 8am and was called back within one hour with an appointment. The e-consult form is clunky and asks a lot of repetitive and irrelevant questions. I arrived on time but wasn't seen until 35 minutes after my appointment. I absolutely understand that this can happen, but it would be really helpful if there could be a message on the waiting room screen to say that there is a delay. Excellent examination by a very thorough doctor.

Review titled Appointments
Rated 3 stars out of 5

E-consultations can be helpful for certain issues, but I don’t understand why you always need to fill out a form just to get a callback or book a face-to-face appointment with a GP. Wouldn’t it make more sense to allow patients to book a telephone consultation with a doctor directly online? For ongoing issues, you often know you’ll need to speak to a GP, yet you still have to fill out a form, wait for it to be triaged, and then get a call back just to schedule an appointment. Couldn’t there be a system where, once triaged, patients are sent a link to book an appointment with a clinician? Alternatively, why not enable online booking through the NHS app?

Thank you for your feedback. Our E-consult system allows thorough triage of each individual patient need. The questions have been designed to allow optimum patient safety and minimise risk by gathering as much information as possible, once the E-consult has been submitted this will be received by a clinician for further triage. Lea Wharf Medical have a dedicated E-consult team consisting of Clinicians and administrators who work through on the day e-consult submissions. This team work together to create patient outcomes by booking onto the correct clinical pathway in a medically safe timeframe. Regarding online booking. As a practice we trialled this system a few years back. However as patient safety will always be paramount a total triage system allows us to practice this. For those who do not have access to the internet we have a team of dedicated care navigators on our telephone lines who can complete this over the telephone or on site in a private e consultation room. We would always encourage our patients to complete online where possible to free up our phone lines for vulnerable patients. Should a clinician want to rebook a patient for an ongoing issue they would send this to our administrators via our clinical system and this would be arranged by the practice contacting you directly. However, if a patient requests a follow-up an e-consult would need to be completed again to determine any changes to symptoms and ensure that the follow up is booked in a medically safe timeframe. Our practice takes all feedback seriously to help improve our systems. From recent feedback we have launched an additional service to our phone lines. This automated service is open Monday-Sunday 24 hours and allows our patients to Request repeat prescriptions, book routine nurse appointments, organise gym referrals and request sick certificates. We are hopeful that this service will help patients submit administration requests without the need for an e-consult and hope to extend the options that we offer on this service to enable further accessibility to the practice. I do hope you find this information useful. Your suggestions and feedback will of course be passed to our Patient Services Managers for review. Should you wish to discuss this with them please contact us directly and we will be happy to talk with you. Many thanks Lea Wharf Medical Team

Review titled Appointment issue
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Sherrie riggans - Posted on 28 November 2024
I was given an appointment which when booking I was not told it was a phone appointment. I struggle with mobility so made my way to the doctors checked in a reception and waited half an hour I was then asked by the receptionist why I wasn’t answer my phone as the doctor had tried to call me. I had no missed calls and was then told I didn’t need to be there. I had waited half an hour and struggle to get there. I do not find this acceptable as if I was told it was a phone appointment I would stayed at home as I am in a lot of pain with my legs.
