It’s impossible to book a doctor’s appointment because E Consult is not working, there’s no hope of getting through on the telephone to book an appointment. There’s too much bureaucracy and it’s unnecessary. The surgery is meant for patients care, sadly that’s non existent.

We are sorry to hear that you have found it difficult to book an appointment. Appointments are indeed in high demand every day. The on-line booking system is AccuRx, not E-consult and you can find the link to this at the top of the page on our website. Appointment requests for on-line booking do fill up fast, so you do need to be very quick to submit your request at 8.00 AM on weekdays as otherwise, it will be likely that we will have reached capacity for appointments available to be booked this way if you leave it until even 8.15 AM. The system works fine. It just turns off once all available slots have been filled for on-line booking, as this means we do not have space to see any more patients via this method that day. You can ring to book an appointment also, but if calling at busy times, you may have to wait a while for a response. However, we do have a queuing system and there is a call-back option, so you don't have to wait on the line. If you choose to receive a call back, you can put the phone down and the system will retain your place in the queue and call you back automatically once your call is nearing the front of the queue. We aim to assist as many patients as we are able every day, but have only so many staff and therefore limited capacity. You do need to be quick off the mark in the morning to book a slot successfully, however, we also release a few more appointments by phone only at 1.00 pm, so you can try ringing then or, if you feel your problem cannot wait until the next day, you can give the details to a receptionist at any time and the receptionist will pass these on to the Duty Doctor who will assess the urgency of the issue and either call you back the same day or advise you to try again the next day to book a routine appointment. I hope the information given here is useful and that you manage to book an appointment via one of these methods.

Review titled Very poor practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sonya Saunders - Posted on 30 November 2024
II was prescribed medicine by a consultant at a hospital and told to contact my GP for refills. One took me over a week to receive to even start my treatment, despite me sending the surgery my original hospital letter (even though they should have received a copy from the Consultant). The second medication, one I have requested by sending by my carer the message on the actual drug from the hospital pharmacy to the surgery, I have had no reply after days and will run out completely of the medication in two days time and thus my treatment will have been in vain. The pharmacy cannot help me without the doctor’s signature. My appointment with the Consultant was made by 111 Service, after waiting two years with a debilitating condition that was ignored by this surgery. Receptionists seem to be gatekeepers and I have no idea if messages have been send to whomever they concern. This has been one example of poor practise at this surgery. I could write about many others. All I require is a signature from a surgery doctor for medication prescribed by a hospital consultant and that is not forthcoming.

Dear Ms Saunders, there was some confusion over this particular medication, as the surgery had prescribed according to the instructions from the consultant, but did query this matter with him, as the instruction was that this medication was listed as not to be continued, hence it could not be re-issued. I understand that this has since been sorted out and that you were informed at the time of the instruction not to re-issue. I hope the problem is now resolved and that you are feeling better.

Review titled Great service and attention

Having just returned from a holiday, l completed an online request form early Friday morning. A doctor called me around 11.45. After a short conversation the doctor said she wanted to see me. As l was not going to be available the following week, the doctor suggested that l could attend the surgery that day if l could be there within the next 30 minutes. It was concluded that further tests were required. Referral letters and forms were completed during my appointment, so that l could arrange my hospital appointments by the time l got back home. This was brilliant service. I couldn't of expected anything better than this. Thank you Langston Way Surgery

The practice contacted me after the results of my X Ray came back from the hospital. A referral to a specialist was made within a few days. This has now all been resolved.

I contacted the practice to make sn appointment following blood tests and x rays done . The Lady doctor who called me was amazing explained everything clearly and concisely. I mentioned that i was having problems getting an appointment at the hospital and she said she would speak to the secretaries in the practice to contact the hospital. Very helpful from start to finish.

Thank you for sorting out my issue The administration staff were excellent, so were the receptions Admittedly I had to go in as the telephone service did not respond quickly enough, but once I was able to have a face-to-face, the problem was resolved within a few minutes

I'm glad your issue was resolved. Apologies that there can sometimes be a long wait for the phone to be answered. I'm afraid this is quite usual at busy times. Perhaps try our call-back option. This enables you to put the phone down while you wait and the system will automatically call you back when your call is nearing the front of the queue.
