Last appointment on 15th March. Following my last appointment in March, I've tried multiple times in May & June to book an appointment for worsening health concern but with no luck. Call at 8am on the dot but I'm always in a queue and by the time the phone is answered all the appointments have gone. E-consult is also unavailable, it says will open at 8am the following day but as soon as it reaches 8am the page just refreshes to say it will open at 8am the following day instead. To make things worse, from 1st August they will no longer take appointment bookings over the telephone and instead they will need to be submitted via eConsult - which is never open and is not accessible for elderly/less technically competent members in our society. In addition, from 1st August the practice email address will be permanently deactivated so all administrative requests, queries and routine appointments must also be submitted via the same eConsult which is never open. Is this practice shutting down for good or something? I can't even get a routine appointment so I just suffer in silence. As a normally relatively healthy individual, I dread to think how those more vulnerable/disabled/pregnant in our community are suffering.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the difficulties you have experienced when trying to access our services, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify and address the issues raised. Firstly, we would like to assure you that the practice is not shutting down. We are undergoing changes intended to improve how patients access care, and we acknowledge that there may be some initial challenges during this transition period. Regarding appointment access: We recognise how frustrating it can be to face long phone queues and unavailable appointment slots. In response to growing demand, we are moving towards an enhanced eConsult system to help manage requests more efficiently and fairly. The eConsult Admin service will be available Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:30 for administrative queries and routine appointment requests. About eConsult availability: It appears there may have been a misunderstanding. The eConsult system will be open from the 1st August 2025 each weekday at 8:00am and remains open until 18:30 the same day for non-urgent matters. Please note: For acute medical concerns they are to be submitted through the medical eConsult pathway, access will be monitored and may be temporarily paused once we reach capacity. This is to ensure we continue to operate safely and provide the best possible care. Kindly be reminded that the surgery is intended for routine and non-urgent medical care. For urgent medical issues, accidents, or emergencies, we advise patients to contact NHS 111 for guidance, or call 999 or attend a local Urgent Care Centre or Accident & Emergency (A&E) department as appropriate. Support for vulnerable patients: We fully recognise that not all patients are comfortable or able to use digital platforms. Please rest assured that elderly and vulnerable patients are not expected to navigate this system alone. A unique access code and staff support will be provided to ensure they continue to receive the care they need promptly. We encourage any patient who is struggling to let our reception team know so that we can assist directly. Email and phone contact: From 1st August, we will be streamlining communication to routine administrative and routine appointment requests through Admin eConsult pathway, which enables us to triage more effectively and reduce waiting times overall. However, our phone lines will remain open for urgent medical matters and to support patients who cannot use eConsult for any reason. We are committed to providing safe, accessible care for all our patients and we are actively monitoring this transition to ensure it is as smooth and inclusive as possible. Extremely disappointed with the service at this practice. Staff at reception are consistently rude and dismissive, even laughing in my face when I tried to explain my health concerns. I was given an urgent referral by the GP over two months ago, yet nothing has been done. After following up multiple times, I discovered the hospital had asked for a proper referral, but the practice failed to act. My condition has worsened, and I’m still waiting for any update. This level of care is unacceptable patients deserve to be treated with dignity and urgency, especially in serious health matters.

I had a consultation with one of the doctors about an ongoing problem. The doctor listened to my concerns and arranged for the appropriate blood tests to be done (these were done on the same day). The results were back quickly and I received a follow up call 2 days later explaining the results, the treatment plan and when I should have the next follow up for this problem. The doctor explained all the results, what they meant and what else I could do to help myself as well as taking the treatment. They were kind, caring and took time to go through my questions. A wonderful service and I would recommend this surgery to anyone

The GP team at Island Health is very thorough and cooperative. I had both telephone and in-person appointments with a GP who was extremely gracious, she listened to my concerns and was very supportive. I would recommend this practice as the GP’s are exceptionally helpful.

Great practice with such care and empathy. can't speak highly enough of island health and the doctor I had seen today. The entire experience, from the moment I walked in, was fantastic. The staff was friendly and efficient, and doctor was not only knowledgeable but also took the time to address all my questions and concerns. The GP and nurse both saviours. Attended a few weeks back not feeling to happy with world. The nurse who dealt with me in the am appointment, managed to get me a appointment later that day. Saw the GP later and was offered an opportunity to let me ramble on about my issues,just an ear to jabber to,just what I needed at this moment of time. Offered lots of sound advice , plenty of options for treatment including a more natural approach to treatment. Booked me in for a follow up appointment No dramas I actually feel 1000% better from the advice I received and honestly can say the doc turned things around for what was developing into a dark period in my life. Thank you both for stamping out what was becoming an big issue possibly Thank you

I have been registered with this practice for over 15 years and the service has improved a lot with trying to get treatment and the system can still be a struggle whilst trying to obtain a appointment but I feel like it’s definitely one of the best practices comparing to others and theirs. I will recommend. I have also had many nurses and doctors deal with myself or family member and have never come across a difficult or rude doctor. I have been much satisfied and I also referred some others to join the practice. Just a simple example with my most recent experience with a Dr. I had some blood results and scan results which needed to be discussed and I got a telephone call for this. As it was difficult to discuss and understand over the phone I was offered a face to face appointment which I attended today and everything was explained in the best and simplest manner to me along with the treatment options I had. I would like to thank the Doctor for taking that extra time to explains and reassure me of my worries.

Was seen on Friday and diagnosed and given an antibiotics. Was asked to follow up with a non-urgent x-ray. Has this at the Royal London at 9:15 am on Monday and by 1:50 pm on the same day I had a follow-up call with my GP confirming the results. Truly cannot fault this speed of the service I received.
