Review titled Smooth experience and excellent customer service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 June 2025
I have to say I’m extremely surprised with the Hurley clinic team. It was my first time visiting this GP, and I expected long queues, cold service, and stressful staff based on my previous experience with the NHS. But none of this happened! It was a smooth booking from the e-consult, prompt follow-up, friendly receptionist, and a caring doctor. We usually go private to avoid the NHS, but actually, my experience this time is even better with my local GP.

Review titled Disappointing Appointment Service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Juan Arellano - Posted on 03 June 2025
I am submitting this review to express my ongoing concern and disappointment with the service at Riverside and Hurley GP Surgery. Securing an appointment is consistently challenging, and communication—whether by phone or email—is often unresponsive. After considerable effort, I was able to book an appointment two weeks ago, scheduled for today (June 3). Unfortunately, I received a text message just two hours before the appointment informing me that it had been cancelled. The message provided a phone number to call for rescheduling, but when I called, I was met with a recorded message stating that the surgery was closed due to an in-service staff training day, and no one was available to assist me. I was especially disappointed by the short notice of the cancellation. It seems unlikely that the staff training day was scheduled last-minute, which makes the lack of advance notice even more frustrating. As patients, we are required to plan ahead, often taking time off work or rearranging our schedules to attend appointments. I made arrangements to be available today, including taking time off of work, only to have the appointment cancelled with a two hour notice and no immediate recourse. This experience felt dismissive of patients’ time and needs. I believe it is reasonable to expect a higher level of professionalism and respect from a healthcare provider. I hope that steps will be taken to improve communication and to ensure that patients are not inconvenienced in this way in the future.

Review titled Prescription Review
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was called today for a review of my medication. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about my medication and he enabled me to ask questions and to give me the advice and reassurance I needed. He gave me options on my medication and followed up with information via text. He did not rush my review. Happy and reassured.

Review titled Excellent social prescriber service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Halima Khatun - Posted on 25 April 2025
I would like to thank Hurley clinic for providing social prescriber/community link worker services. I was recommended by my community link worker (who has been helping me at my GP) to contact Hurley clinic to get assistance for my elderly mother who doesn’t speak English well to help with some difficulties she has been facing due to the cost of living crisis and she was assigned a social prescriber (I understand I cannot name this person) I would like thank this person who was assigned to my mothers case on behalf of myself and my mother for helping my mother with financial assistance, they were very kind, professional, supportive, caring, thorough and always kept me updated every step of the way. There are no words to express my gratitude. I hope this service keeps going as it is absolutely essential support for a lot of people but especially for vulnerable people, it is very difficult these days (since pandemic) to get help for financial, housing, benefits and other social needs I speak from experience as I myself have been receiving aid from my community link worker that was available at my GP, this service has been invaluable to me and my mother. Having this service available alleviates stress from financial difficulties and other areas that this service can assist with. I hope that this service continues with amazing people who work to help those like myself and my mother. Many thanks.

Always treated with respect and my problems attended to by all staff at the clinic. I just wish we could go back to booking appointments online as before covid.

Review titled Excellent support
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Liz Landers - Posted on 09 January 2025
My husband is severely disabled by Parkinson’s with Lewy Body disease. We need to watch out for infections. He had come to the Riverside Practice for a routine injection (more great practice there too). I asked at reception if someone could also check him quickly because I was worried about a cough he was developing. Before he was ill, we would have waited to see if it developed further. Now it is important to keep on top of infections. The receptionist was as helpful as it is possible to be: he went and knocked on the door of a doctor whose next patient had not yet arrived. That doctor double checked his next patient was not there (he expressed particular concern because the patient was a child). When he realised the next patient was still not there he took my husband to his room, checked thoroughly his chest, oxygen and heart and was able to reassure us. I really don’t think the Clinic staff could have done more for us.

Dear Liz Thank you for taking the time to provide such a thoughtful review of our practice. I’m delighted to hear about your satisfaction with both the doctor and the receptionist. Teamwork and effective communication are incredibly important to us, and it’s wonderful to know that these values were reflected during your visit. I also appreciate your understanding of the doctor’s need to confirm the status of their next patient before attending to your husband. It’s reassuring to hear that the team prioritised thoroughness while ensuring that your husband’s care was not compromised. I hope this gave you both a sense of confidence and reassurance during the experience. I sincerely hope your husband is feeling better now. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can support you further in any way. Wishing you both all the best. Tracy Crossfield Practice Manager tracy.crossfield@nhs.net
