I filled email in for new contact method this morning received reply by email telling me District Nurses would be coming to sort my problems out At 1530hours I rang surgery and was given Nurses phone number they said nurses worked till 5 o clock and to wait ,at 5o clock I rang nurses again and was informed nurses were booked in to visit me next day I am a 79year old diabetic housebound and have been in great pain for 48hours why is it that this should happen when Elmhayes have a very good diabetic nurse who has treated me for years .Who is new system meant to be better for patients or Doctors The service we receive is going downhill fast

  2. Review titled Sarcastic, Unprofessional, Lack of patient empathy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Joan Hinge - Posted on 23 June 2025

I was due to have an appointment at 4.30 23.6.25, unfortunately I had my house being viewed at 4.30 and 5pm The appointment was changed to a phone appointment.I waited for the call but did not get the call I received a message saying the GP saying the call kept going to voice mail, and yet I had 2 calls from the estate agent wirh no problem .I then called the surgery to explain that there was no problem with my phone, and I wanted to speak to the Dr, she rudely told me to book a new appointment, i told the receptionist that I was in constant pain with my ankle and despite the xray showing normal my foot is clearly swollen and I'm in pain, all i could hear was her rudely and loudly sighing showing no empathy what so ever, I was near to tears at missing this appointment and was polite as we are expected to be.I do not think it is unreasonable to ask that we as patients are given a bit of respect in return.I know that I should have been available and I was in theory ,there was nothing wrong with my phone as I have had other calls with no problem. The receptionist actually disagreed with me when I told her I was waiting for the call by responding saying ' well I dont know havent got a crystal ball' to which I said thank you for your sarcastic comment, she then replied ' that's ok' I dont think this is good customer care. I've been in customer care for 45 years in a very hostile environment and dont think that professional employees have the right to exasperate situations unnecessarily.
