The first person of contact at any surgery should be helpful, friendly and sympathetic! This was not unfortunately my experience at East Barnet Medical Center. The ‘receptionist’ was off hand, abrupt, to the point of being rude and totally unhelpful. This was unnecessary behaviour in the light of the role which she holds, and her distinct lack of people’s skills.

I visited a G P here today and it was a great experience - including the receptionist who originally took my call. The G P was very thorough and took time to ask questions examine me and made a number of very practical suggestions and not reaching for the prescription pad . Offered a possible choice of treatment including a non-medicine approach. Invited me to return in 1 month so as to run a follow-up review. All very impressive and shows the Health Service at its very best. Thank you.

Was a great practice before Covid. Difficult to make appointments but once made my experience with the Doctor was very good

I am very happy with East Barnet health centre. I have been with them for 12 years and i never had any issues. I always get an appointment when i need it. The staff is helpful and professional

All the doctors I have seen here have been helpful and doing the best they can. They have been overstretched as everyone knows, however, they have taken the time to give me the best advice and refer me to other services. They do need more reception staff though, they have been friendly too most times.

I understand how difficult the reception job is. I tried calling @ 8.01 all appointments were gone. A suggestion why such a long answer phone pre message before u can press an option. ?? This is not a complaint I feel for the staff but does not help me. Any suggestions? Or a call would be great. Kind Regards Sharon Sugar

I am really annoyed by the practice poor booking system via econsult. I have tried on several occasions to book. I leave all the work sit infront of the computer at 7:45 and keep trying to book. Till 7:59 the message says you can book at 8:00. Once it ticks 8:00 the message automatically says ‘you can book the next day at 8:00’. It is unbelievable. How can it be filled in no time? Trust me it is not my first experience. Every time it is the same. Unfortunately I have shelled out lot of money on private gps now. I would appreciate if the manager can come back to me with the number patients that they are seeing on daily basis booked through econsult. I am sure they should be able to do it as I have the right to know it, as long as I am not asking for personal details. Even if I try calling practice sharp at 8 am for morning apps and at 2 pm for pm apps - no appointment will be available. It’s shocking but I have never managed to see a GP from this practice till now. I would never ever recommend this practice as one will never see a gp once registered. They will have to call 111/ 999 and not gp for whatever problems they have.

The phone lines switch over at 8am when we open so trying to access the service prior to that time will not add you to the queue first. If you would like to discuss this further please contact and ask to speak to the practice manager.

I accidentally ran out of meds. I was expecting the prescriptions clerk to say it was my own silly fault and that she couldn’t help. Instead she couldn’t have been more sympathetic and helpful. She issued a strip to tide me over and also made sure that that strip would not be subtracted from my next renewal. This practice obviously has an ethos of being as helpful as possible. And I’ve noticed this in the medical staff as well. You’re doing a great job, thanks and keep it up.
