    I have always felt extremely welcome and cared for at The Derby Rd Health Centre. Today, when I contacted first thing about some concerning symptoms I was offered a GP telephone call by the extremely efficient, lovely, Care Navigation Team. This was followed up later with a face to face appointment with a GP, who I cannot fault whatsoever. She was brilliant today. Following this appointment a blood test and a scan were arranged for next week, both at the practice. The pressures for appointments are immense and I witnessed first hand, the staff at the practice doing their utmost best to meet patient demands. This review is written with gratitude, appreciation and respect for all the staff working there.

    We needed to see a nurse to update vaccinations. Tried on the web site. It says book appointments, but follow the link and that says no appointments available - ever! Perhaps I am stupid, but I cannot see how you choose doctor, or nurse, or what sort of appointment you need. Why are these things so badly designed?

    I had an appointment with a nurse, this didn't have to be triaged, all booked by reception. The nurse put me at ease, answered all of my questions and I've come away feeling a lot more reassured and that it was worthwhile having a face to face visit to cover the symptoms I'd been having.

    The reception team at the surgery helped me register as an emergency as I required immediate attention from a district nurse following a surgery. They were extremely helpful and reassuring at a very stressful time, thank you.

    My experience of the receptionists at the surgery has been excellent. We have shared-care for specialist injections that involves ordering a prescription from the GP, picking it up, taking it to the pharmacy to get the medication in before taking it back to the GP for administering. In the last week I needed to get a prescription processed in time for an injection. When I went to pick the prescription up it couldn’t be located and the receptionist there went above and beyond to locate it, understanding how time-sensitive it was. When it came for the date of the injection the pharmacy had not got in all the parts needed, which meant that we couldn’t attend the appointment. We explained this to the receptionist who offered us an afternoon appointment for the same day. However, we couldn’t be sure that the injection would be available in time. This was really stressful as there are certain timescales that the injection needs to be given in. The receptionist made a provisional afternoon booking (so we didn’t loose the slot) and liaised directly with the pharmacy on their anticipated schedule. When it became clear the injection could not happen that day the receptionist phoned us and booked us in the following day despite there technically not being any slots available. I was really happy with the service we were given. On both times the receptionists took ownership of the situations, reassured me and made a stressful situation a whole lot easier.

    Had an appointment with a nurse but she was not polite at all. A very rude and non professional attitude was shown by her.

    Last time, when I ordered my repeat prescription online the GP did not approve it and send me a message asking me to see a GP. I stayed for 3 weeks without medication till I got an appointment with the GP. Now I was supposed to have a blood test on 28/02/2023, to be started on a new medication. On 27/02/2023 I was contacted to be told my appointment has been cancelled. I was able to make another one in two weeks time which is today, 15/03/2023, to my surprise wgen I woke up I found an sms, sent at 8:45, saying it is cancelled. Now I am calking the reception. It's been 44 mins and I am in queue position 3. This is the new system they introduced to pass their problems to the patient. It is frustrating..

    Derby Road has been my GP practice for over 25 years and it has been excellent, but being aware of a lot of adverse comments in the media about GP practices in general I was a little concerned when I rang to make an appointment with the physiotherapist. There were 11 people in the queue before me but they seemed to be being dealt with at about 1 a minute, which I find very impressive given that some of the calls must be fairly complex. My appointment is in 3 working days, which is excellent - far better than I thought it would be and I doubt I could have seen a private physio any quicker. I’m very impressed and cannot fault the service I received.

    Same-day appointment system is working well. Phone queue dealt with efficiently. Doctor phoned in half an hour and I saw him later that morning. After 12 years of government disinvestment in the health service, this practice is managing to achieve some of its former excellence

    The practice website advertises an online booking system, but this will not accept bookings requests. I therefore attended the practice reception in person. I was informed that even a straightforward request would need an appointment with a doctor, which could only be arranged by phoning the practice at 8 am. This seems wholly impractical, since, according to the receptionist, the identical advice is given to everybody.
