  1. Review titled Patronising & Unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 April 2024

21 year old daughter had an appointment with one of the lead doctors at Claughton practice. The Dr was extremely patronising and condescending. She prescribed 2x inhalers, without even checking daughters chest / peak flow, or if asthma was the issue. Refused to give another prescription for iron tablets, ‘why should I give you them’ despite daughter being anaemic, instead blamed the problem on low blood pressure, even though she didn’t bother taking my daughters blood pressure, so obviously she just guessed. Really poor ‘bedside’ manner, daughter suffers with anxiety anyway and felt she was being belittled and patronised instead of being listened to. Really poor, do better.

  3. Review titled Unfriendly and rude receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 April 2024

Just had a disappointing experience today, this is my local GP and I love my doctor. She is so helpful and lovely and goes above and beyond. However, today I went in to get my repeat proscription set up and the reception was unhelpful, very unfriendly and extremely blunt. She had purple hair and was wearing a blue blouse, though I’m unsure of her name. In the past the receptionists have been nice, but she made me feel unwelcome and like a burden, just for asking for some help. She cut me off in multiple occasions before listening to what I had to say. I have ADHD and Autism, and this encounter upset and distressed me. Healthcare and medication is a sensitive and vulnerable thing and I think that any employee, or indeed any person, should try their best to be understanding, kind and listen to be able to help people effectively.

  6. Review titled Bamboozled by Bureaucracy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My father has recently moved into a nursing home and has transferred to this medical practice. In order to apply for attendance allowance I need to obtain a copy of his patient summary and, as I live 3 hours away, can't just "pop in" to the practice. So, I rang the contact number asking if I could email them a copy of the Lasting Power of Attorney, or provide access to the digital copy, which they would need before releasing his records. Unfortunately, I was advised that they were not allowed to provide an email address but, if I had "a good look around the website" I would find some way of contacting Claughton Medical Centre direct, or uploading the document. I have spent 20 minutes looking for the mythical means of contact but to no avail. If it does exist it is absolutely not obvious. This whole experience is as far removed from the practical manifestation of a patient-centric approach as you can get. Although unusual I can't imagine I'm the only person who isn't in a position to "pop in" to the doctors. It seems the NHS has more processes and protocols than you can shake a stick at but whether they're fit for purpose is another question. This one isn't, that's for certain. Let's make this clear. All I wanted to do was to submit a document for their records so they could provide me with the information I need to hep my Dad. Flabbergasted doesn't even start to describe this experience.

Hello, We're sorry to hear to hear this. I can understand your frustration in not being able to obtain an email address. However the staff were correct to advise you to se the 'Contact us' form on the website as a means of contacting us. The contact us form is on the top banner of icons on the website or in the menu option on the top right if you are using a mobile phone. But we do acknowledge the website isn't the easiest to navigate so we are actually in the process of re-designing the website to make it much more user friendly. The new website should be live in a few weeks. I will attach a link to the contact us form here should you still need to contact us. https://www.paxtonmedicalgroup.co.uk/edit/contact-us Best Wishes, PMG

I have had to leave this doctors as was just getting nowhere with them!! Get sent to other places aswell.the receptionist with the purple hair should not be in that sort of job her attitude is awful!! In a week of seeing my new doctors had test done! Blood tests taken and the next day get a text from new doctors to call them, booked me in to see a nurse about my cholesterol!! I have had cholesterol problems for years but never have Paxton centre helped me! Just get a text to say your cholesterol is high and that text would be about a week after blood test!! This doctors obviously there is not enough doctors!! And it's all phone calls still? Much happier in my new doctors lovely receptionist aswell!! If could give a no star I would as would not recommend!!

  10. Review titled Lack of care and empathy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2024

I have been feeling very unwell since the end of February. Trying to get past the receptionists is unbelievably difficult. I have been offered an appointment in 2 weeks time or a telephone in about a week. If you can try to get through at 8.30 in the morning, you may get an appointment. I have been fobbed of week after week an ended up having to go to A & E. After a 7 hour wait, I was diagnosed with a severe chest infection. I now have the medication needed and am awaiting a CT Scan. I feel totally let down by Paxton Medical Group, there seems to be a lack of empathy with the patients needs. A little like, "the computer says no". I am sorry, but what happened to patent care.

Hello, We're sorry you've had a negative experience with us. Every morning we have over 60 face to Face & Telephone appointments to give out, the average wait for pre-bookable appointments is around 7 days, which is quicker than the current NHS guidelines of 2 weeks. We do constantly monitor our appointment system to try to improve the availability wherever we can. We would like to look into your specific case more thoroughly but unfortunately your review is anonymous so we're unable to look into this for you. But if you could contact us to provide your name and date of birth we can investigate it further. Best wishes, PMG
