  3. Review titled Useless

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband tried to book a medicine review via telephone as he is unable to order anything online, firstly it took 10+ hours to get back to him, second it was a text reply by someone! Who had decided to give him one medication from his list without a review leaving him still unable to order anything else online. This place is being run by incompetent people that have no clue what they are doing anymore

  4. Review titled Superb service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I contacted AskmyGp at 7.15am, was called at 910am offering a face to face appointment at 1040am later that morning. I was seen by an excellent GP who gave me a thorough examination and diagnosis. She prescribed medication electronically to my chosen Pharmacy. Her advice was spot on. This excellent service is typical of my interaction with the Practice. The whole team is caring and professional. Superb service.

  5. Review titled Poor telephone service

Rated 1 star out of 5

My husband rang today and he had to wait over 20 minutes for someone to answer the phone - so much for their new telephone system. The receptionist was very polite though which is the 1 star

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced long wait times on the telephone. We have had a number of teething problems with our new telephone system, these have now been resolved. If you are able to contact us via askmyGP this will eliminate any need to wait in the queue and your query will be dealt with the same day. Regards Cheryl Wilden Business Manager

The team at Chapelthorpe are first class. If you require their services you are dealt with promptly, courteously and in a thoroughly professional manner. Ask My GP is a brilliant service followed up through email, phone call or personal consultation. Tests are executed efficiently and the results available online in a few days. They are then followed up by one of the team and appropriate action taken. Chapelthorpe demonstrate what GP service is all about and should be highly commended for providing an outstanding GP service. Thank you.

  7. Review titled You matter to them

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have a number of complex medical issues. I am never made to feel a nuisance. The receptionists are wonderful and always try to be helpful. They go the extra mile. The doctors I’ve seen there listen and are genuinely interested in you as a patient. There are limitations to what can be achieved in the NHS nowadays but this practice is well organised, well resourced and impressive in its support of patients. Thankyou.

  9. Review titled Much appreciated care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kathleen Micklethwaite - Posted on 18 January 2023

Your Review: My husband has had hearing problems so I called the surgery on his behalf. I spoke to someone in reception who has to be commended on her telephone manner, patience and customer care skills. She very quickly made an appointment with a member of the nursing team and explained the expected route the treatment should take. We got an appointment with a member of the nursing staff for the same day. The nurse also showed such patience and care when dealing with the problem. She was cheerful, understanding of the difficulties relating to hearing loss and quickly decided she could deal with the problem there and then. At the end of the appointment she explained how to go ahead with a self help routine but made sure we understood what steps to take if there was any further trouble. We felt very reassured at the end of the appointment and really appreciated the way we had been treated throughout the whole process.

  10. Review titled Time to care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 December 2022

Having suffered severe acute pain for over two weeks, inability to sleep and fear that my pain would be too great for my prescribed medication I sent a plea for support and assistance to the surgery via Ask My GP. I was offered an appointment later that day. As I waited to see the doctor I feared my appointment may be a waste of time, that nothing more could be done. The doctor invited me to sit down and asked about the history of my pain - not what had prompted my message that morning but rather 'Go back to the beginning and tell me what has been going on.' He listened, real, obvious active listening. He demonstrated on the skeleton hanging in his office the potential causes of my pain; he examined me and explained how things may progress. In particular he described all the ways in which various medications work to relieve pain, how these can be layered to achieve the best possible relief. He mitigated the concern I had developed from reading, as one is instructed to do, all the patient information leaflets that came with each medicine, warning of addiction and risk of using for more than a few days. He ensured I was aware of the purpose of each medicine and when was the optimum time to use it. He offered me an additional medicine, not that I was 'required' to take but that I could have available in case I had another night when nothing seemed to have worked. He gave me his time and attention for at least 20 minutes. I left the surgery feeling reassured, that I would not be abandoned to struggle with uncontrollable pain. Since then I have not had any incidents of awful pain, I have taken medication as advised, I have followed the exercises a physio recommended gently, but without feeling I was failing if I could not do each one energetically several times a day; and I have benefited from two nights of sleep, not 8 hours straight, but good pain-free sleep and am feeling so much better for that. I do not know what any GP has to do to justify, to managers and statisticians, spending at least twice an allotted appointment time with one patient but I am extremely grateful that one GP at Chapelthorpe Medical Centre was willing to do so. As a result I expect I may be able to self manage until I recover, I certainly feel equipped and empowered to do so. The question I would like to pose to NHS England and everyone trying to run the NHS under pressure is Can a value be placed upon time to care? Might investing 20 minutes in real caring actually achieve greater benefit that 10 lots of 2 minute uses of NHS online, 111, one line answers, and 'a prescription has been sent to the chemist'. I felt guilty for even having a face to face appointment, but I now do not doubt it represented real value. Thank you.
