  2. Review titled So sorry to say it has gone downhill

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Howard White - Posted on 15 August 2023

I used to be full of praise for this practice, and it has some amazing doctors. Since it has moved to a long way from Central St Leonards it has gone downhill. Today, by 8.45, a recording told me all appointments were taken. Yesterday was Monday so I did not even bother trying! My son is a patient, and has severe learning difficulties and is non-verbal. They still refuse to give us (his parents) a report from the hospital as he is 16 without his consent or proof of his disability! But when we requested that they confirm his disability to a local government department they responded 'Yes of course we will, that will be £35 please!!!' We are both on low incomes, and thankfully this letter was not needed in the end. In the past I have needed a similar letter to confirm my own disabilities and one of their wonderful doctors immediately obliged without asking for money. Okay, lets be fair, charging to sign a passport form I can understand as I accept Doctors have more important things to do, and you do not need a doctor to do it anyway. But this was a shock, especially from a surgery I had always admired. When my son's mother moved to Hastings town centre we fought hard to keep our son at Carisbrooke because we liked them so much! They had known us for years and been really good. Now, that 'personal touch' has gone. I am a Christian, and I do not write bad reviews to troll. I have written many good reviews on Trustpilot. I am writing this in the hope that things will improve and I can write something better in the future. We still have not had that report from the hospital. We just pray it was nothing too important. God bless you all

  3. Review titled Amazing to have staff with compassion

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 June 2023

I have a number of health challenges and have had many a bad experiences over the years with other practices/hospitals etc… However, during a very stressful time I am so grateful to be able to not only get through to the reception at Carisbrooke but to have lovely people on the end of the phone. I have spoken with one lady in particular (unable to name on here due to rules but will call them ‘T’) who has not only been able to hear me when I’m needing help, but has ensured they’ve sought me help, whilst being compassionate and understanding - thank you, it is appreciated more than you know.

  5. Review titled Lovely staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by J.A. - Posted on 25 November 2022

I’ve been here a few times recently with my children and for myself and found the receptionists, nurses and doctors to be so friendly and helpful. Appointments system is good with a mix of online/phone/face to face.

  6. Review titled Hopeless!!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Pebbles St Leonards - Posted on 07 October 2022

This used to be the best surgery in Hastings. Unfortunately it is now, without doubt, the absolute worst. They built an enormous new surgery but you are completely unable to obtain an appointment to see a Doctor! The receptionists are rude and obstructive, and are pseudo medical experts who will decide whether you are worthy of a telephone consultation or not. I was left in floods of tears by the whole experience and still haven't been seen by or spoken to a GP, despite the continual worry. Now, although I have been called for a flu vaccine for 20 years, I apparently have to pay for a vaccine at a supermarket as the surgery doesn't have enough vaccines to accommodate anyone unable to attend on the one date they are offering! The surgery should be closed down and donated to community groups, as it definitely no longer provides health care!!

Dear Pebbles St Leonards - thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding the surgery. Unfortunately I am unable to contact you directly regarding your concerns/comments as you have left your feedback anonymously. The reception staff are doing their very best and working to criteria set to them by the practice doctors regarding appointments, if you feel it would be beneficial to discuss this with me further please do contact the surgery. Regarding your request for a flu vaccine, following your feedback we now have a couple of daily appointments available for patients that are not able to attend a Saturday clinic, please do contact the practice if you would like to book one of these appointments. Alternatively, if you do attend a pharmacy and are entitled to the flu vaccine under NHS criteria, you will not be charged for this. Kind regards, Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Ann - Posted on 20 September 2022

Held on the phone for nearly an hour to get through. Cannot have a face to face appointment, the doctor needs to speak to me on the phone first. Told call back tomorrow which I can't as I work So I made an appointment for the doctor to call me, saying no rush, next week would be fine, but the soonest the doctor can call is in 3 weeks time, and longer if I want to speak to a female doctor as I originally requested. I've put off contacting the doctor with my symptoms for over 6 months, but got to the point where I need help and advice. Why are we still using this triage system, how can the receptionist decide if my ailments are serious enough to warrant an appointment. Everything else has reverted to pre covid systems apart from this. I have only visited the doctor once in 2 years, so hardly think I would want to see a doctor if I didn't feel I needed to. Used to be a great practice but now dread the procedure we have to go through to get an appointment.

  8. Review titled Chaos

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jack Tomlin - Posted on 07 September 2022

Total chaos, told by practice manager that receptionists can book appointments, told by receptionists that they are not allowed to give appointments! Repeat prescriptions take three weeks to get to the chemists, this after GPs stopped chemists doing automatic repeats! Be aware that this and other practices use BT call queue, you call the surgery but calls are held in BT call queue for a length of time before being put through to the surgery and your still paying for the call. Called them twice, first 60 mins, today 45mins.
