Review titled Avoid, Do Not Register Here
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 June 2025
As previous reviews have said, trying to get in touch is an absolute nightmare. The triage form - Klinik - is so complicated. Takes ages to complete and at the slightest opportunity it prompts you to ring 999 or go to A&E - basically this practice does not want to see anyone. The staff, who I've only seen maybe once in the last five years when going for a blood test, which in itself takes months to book, are completely amazing. But the ethos of this place is screw money out of the NHS and basically, do nothing. CQC had rated them inadequate, or in special measures. Now good. CQC, come back and see the shambles this place is. I was referred today from a local pharmacist due to Hypertension level 3 blood pressure, but advised to call them as I needed to be seen within 48 hours. I did that and was told you will get a call to arrange an appointment. Literally two minutes late, a text saying, take blood pressure measurements yourself for four days and submit them!

Review titled GP Practice that doesn’t like patients
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 June 2025
When you finally get to see a GP/Nurse Practitioner - my experiences so far have been good…that’s where it ends. This clinic makes it as difficult as possible to actually get any contact with medical professionals. Lengthy forms to be completed that are triaged by admin, absolutely no communication to patients on the process leaving you clueless as to what’s going on. I contacted the surgery at 8am regarding a medical condition which although not life threatening, is incredibly uncomfortable/painful and hasn’t responded to medication previously prescribed. The NHS guidelines actually advise you to contact your GP in this instance. The receptionist who took my call at 8am, was very helpful and professional; but I had to call back at 3pm as I had absolutely no idea what was going on. I was advised that a pharmacist will be contacting me at some point today. It would be incredibly helpful to patients if there was an SMS or email from the Triage team to let you know what the course of action is eg “The pharmacist will be contacting you today”. Hence keeping the patient informed of the process, and reducing unnecessary calls to reception to find out what is going on. I appreciate that GP surgeries are busy, but this surgery is actively geared to caring for healthy patients who rarely need to see a GP. I have multiple health conditions, which affect my daily life - I’ve learned in a very short period of time that my interests are not best served at this surgery as it’s so frustrating trying to get a consultation or request medication. I used to wonder why the surgery waiting room is always so empty - it’s because patients find it virtually impossible to be seen.

I have tried to call and book appointments on behalf of someone but haven’t been successful after a whole week. You call them, number 20 in the queue, sit on hold for 3 hours and then give up. Or you can wait for the queue buster to call you back, but that never happens. The person I am making an appointment for doesn’t have a phone, so an appointment cannot be made via the website, I need to tell them the appointment (which they also refuse to make if you go in as it’s the ‘triage team that do it’). It’s completely inadequate service. I have submitted evidence to the icb / cqc as this frankly isn’t right and if it were an elderly person, could be fatal. How can a surgery just not answer phones / call patient back. To add to it, I emailed the practice manager when I had this problem a year ago (no one picking up the phones, with a screenshot of a 2 hour wait) and they didn’t even respond.

Review titled Issue with ear wax and periodic blood test check
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Greg Taylor - Posted on 04 May 2025
The member of staff was very helpful and checked my ears which were OK. She then suggested I have a blood test for the regular checks on cholesterol, diabetes etc which was overdue and I was going to request. This demonstrates a professional approach which is always reassuring where one's health is concerned. I have a high opinion of this surgery and their genuine concern for your health and wellbeing.

Review titled Waste of patient's time
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 September 2024
I have a severe UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) and am having to get up four or five times every night so as to go to the loo. I obviously need an antibiotic, and so I tried to make an appointment - via klinik - to talk to a Doctor. But the system seemed to have changed and I couldn't figure it out. (I am 84 and cannot deal with some of the technical matters.) Then I recalled that I had read somewhere that Pharmacists had been given the right to prescribe antibiotics. So, after lunch yesterday, Friday, I went to the local Pharmacist - The Osbon Pharmacy on Western Road, Hove. I had to get a cab because it was raining heavily. When I got to the Pharmacy I had to wait quite a while whilst the Pharmacist dealt with several prescriptions, and he apologised for the delay, but I was happy because I thought that I was going to get an antibiotic. However, when I explained matters, the Pharmacist said that he couldn't write a prescription for an antibiotic for me because the service was only for women in a certain age group. I was devastated because I was so tired through lack of sleep that I could hardly keep my eyes open. But the Pharmacist said that, if I phoned WellBN and asked a Doctor to issue a prescription right away and send it to him - the Osbon Pharmacist - he would have the antibiotics ready for me the next morning - today, Saturday. We noted that it was 4pm, and, seeing as WellBN was open until 6.15pm, I dashed home. Then when I got home, I didn't even stop for a cup of tea, and tried to phone WellBN straight away. But the automated voice kept saying that I had to phone later. It was 4.45pm when I finally was given a place on the queue - at number 20. I sat and waited and waited while the place numbers got lower and lower. At 5.42pm I was given the number 4, and so thought that there was a possibility that my request for a prescription could be fulfilled. I was wrong. The automated voice didn't give me any lower place numbers, and it just kept repeating that my place number was 4 - until I put the phone down at 6.17pm. As I've said earlier, I'd tried to phone as soon as I had got home from the Osbon Pharmacy, but an automated voice had told me several times to phone later, and I had finally got through at 4.45pm. So by the time when I put the phone down at 6.17pm, that one phone call had lasted for one hour and thirty two minutes, and nothing had been done towards fulfilling my request for an antibiotic. An absolute waste of time and what a disgraceful way to treat patients. Bearing in mind that I had reached the position of fourth in the queue surely this means that WellBN had left the other three patients high and dry without giving them any help. WEllBN didn't even warn us that we wouldn't be given any attention. When people queue in shops they are treated better than this. I strongly believe that WellBN should have dealt with the remaining four patients or, if there were more, then those patients as well.

I contacted the surgery via the online Klinik system. I was contacted by receptionist staff the same day who accommodated my request for a a telephone appt and arranged this for the next day. I spoke with two GPs who were thorough, friendly and communicated clearly.

Review titled Disappointed

This is a great practice which I have recommended to several people. Yesterday I waited 30 minutes to be seen and although I felt the GP was thorough I felt slightly rushed as he said a couple of times he was worried about moving his car.
