How and when to take lymecycline - Brand name: Tetralysal 300

Dosage and how to take lymecycline

Dosage and strength

For acne, you'll usually take 1 capsule of lymecycline once a day, usually in the morning. Each capsule contains 408mg of lymecycline (equivalent to 300mg of tetracycline).

If you're taking it for an infection, follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions about how much to take.

How to take it

Always swallow the capsule whole, with a glass of water.

You can take this medicine with or without food. But you're less likely to feel sick if you have it with food.

How long to take it for

If you're taking lymecycline for acne, you may need to take it for at least 8 weeks.

Speak to your doctor after 2 months if you have not seen any improvement, as you may need to change to a different medicine.

If you're taking it for an infection, your doctor will discuss with you how long the course of lymecycline will be. This depends on what type of infection you have.

Important

Carry on taking this medicine until you finish the course, even if you feel better.

If you stop your treatment early, your problem could come back.

If you forget to take it

If you forget to take a dose of lymecycline, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's nearly time for your next dose. In this case, just leave out the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time.

Never take an extra dose to make up for a forgotten one. And never take 2 doses at the same time.

If you forget doses often, you could set an alarm to remind you. You can also ask your pharmacist for advice on other ways to help you remember to take your medicines.

If you take too much

Taking an extra dose of lymecycline is unlikely to cause any harm.
