Overview

Ludlow is a lovely market town in South Shropshire, England, close to the Welsh border and in the Welsh Marches.  It lies within a bend of the River Teme. On its eastern bank forming an area of 350 acres (1.4km) and centred on a small hill is the site of Ludlow Castle and the market place.  From there the streets of the medieval town slope downward to the river Teme, and northward towards the river Corve.  The town is in a sheltered spot beneath the Clee Hills, which are clearly visible from the town.  With a population of around 10,000, with a further 8,000 residents within a 10miles radius of Ludlow, it is the largest town in South Shropshire.  It boasts Michelin starred Restaurants, a Shakespearean Festival, and a Medieval Food Festival each year.

The Practice started its life from the Historic Broad Street in Ludlow back in 1987.  This was steadily outgrown as Ludlow began to grow, the Practice list expanded and more services were offered to the patients.  A new  ‘Portcullis Surgery’ was built in Upper Galdeford in 1985; this is where the three Partner GP’s, three Assistant GP’s, four Practice Nurses along with a Phlebotomist, Counsellor, Reception and Administrative Staff work from 08:30am – 18:00pm Monday to Friday, with extended hours surgeries for commuters on Monday evenings and also a Friday breakfast Surgery.

This Practice caters for patients living within an 8 mile radius of Ludlow (excluding Leintwardine, Craven Arms and Doddington).

Portcullis is a non-dispensing Practice.
