More about AAA screening

Transcript of Abdominal aortic aneurysm animation

The aorta is the main blood vessel that supplies blood to your body.

It runs from your heart down through your chest and abdomen.

As you grow older, the wall of the aorta can become weak.

It can then expand and develop into what is called an abdominal aortic aneurysm,

or AAA.

Large aneurysms are rare, but can be very serious.

Left untreated, the wall of your aorta can become very weak and could burst.
