    On 07.01.2024 having contacted every available organisation claiming to offer Covid injections, even 119, only to be told "we don't do this any more" and "just gave the last jab" in desperation I finally found this walk in Pharmacy in Whitehaven. It was 18:00 yet the Receptionist in a kind voice told me they were open until 20:00 and if I was able to travel from Penrith she would gladly arrange for me to receive the jab. On enquiring further whether I could attend the following day I was invited to call early morning to set things in place. This I did and upon arriving at 11:00 after a most pleasant scenic drive through Kendal etc. I was met by a most pleasant and obliging staff member and then a charming Pharmacist who delivered the jab without fuss and in good humour having told her of my pains to find this outlet. I said how much I had enjoyed the drive through the fells on this frozen sun drenched morning and we allowed a short discourse on our respective love for fell walking and for Whitehaven which I should visit more frequently. All done without a hitch and in a most convivial environment and manner with lovely staff I thought back to "the old days" when it was pleasure to attend one's Doctor, Pharmacist, Shop etc, on a day's errands.     Been ringing 6 hours from a 111 consult still no response or actually picking the phone up no faith

    Dear Chris Thankyou for your feedback and I am sorry we were not able to answer your phone calls on the day you contacted the pharmacy. We have recently installed a VOIP phone system to prevent constant engaged tones and to allow greater accessibility via telephone to the pharmacy. Sometimes based on staffing levels, patient needs in the pharmacy and unpredictable workloads its hard to be able to answer the phone on every occasion although we strive to answer every call within a few rings. We will feed this back to the team and hope this was an isolated incident but will try make improvements where necessary. If you could email the pharmacy at pharmacy.fdp04@nhs.net with further details of the date this occurred and whether phone was engaged or switched off and how many times you tried to call we could investigate this further.     So I booked my appointment for my covid and flu jab via the NHS website for 2pm at this chemist. When I arrived the queue in front of me for jabs was almost out the door . The reason was that they were operating walk ins too. This meant that I had to join the queue even though I had taken the time to book an appointment. My questions about this fell on deaf ears. Please can I remind the pharmacy that not everyone has all day every day to stand waiting in a long queue as some people still have a job to maintain. Disgraceful.

    Dear Patient Thankyou for your feedback. We are sorry to have heard about your poor experience after having booked your flu and covid vaccination. We operate both a walk-in and appointment based service but are currently unable to prepare for demand of patients walking in. We do try and see booked in (appointment) patients first but do not always succeed if there is a queue for being served in the first place. We are trying to improve this and find a better solution as we also have our normal service (non vaccine) pharmacy patients who queue to be served. The team will discuss how we can identify and prioritise appointment patients over walk in patient in a more efficient manner.     The last 3 times I’ve tried to get a prescription they haven’t had it in. Staff also not very helpful and quite rude.

    Meds ordered on the 11th, did not deliver. Family member went to collect for me only to be told there was nothing on the system. I called the doctor to confirm it was sent through. Called them to be told don't know who said we do not have your meds, but they are here. We will deliver tonight, advised that I have another o e which is due the next day as well. To be then told that oh, sorry forgot have no delivery slots tonight it will be tomorrow. Have hurt my back so can't drive, was in the whole day, once again no delivery no call. Called them to be told oh we ant deliver. Now have no meds and no way of collecting my meds. Absolutely disgusting customer service would not recommend at all. Would not help at all
