Visited this Sheel pharmacy in Lewisham near the fire station and Ladywell, for a Trush infection, on the pharmacy first scheme and they refused to give me the medication. First the manager went on the computer and said my name was not there. I said to him that he can add it then. Then he said he has not got the canesten cream which I saw on the shelf so I suggested clotrimazole which is the same thing different name and strength and I see that he had it on the shelf as well. The manager said the GP needs to phone them or send them something to say I must get the Canesten cream for it to be given to me. I left without the treatment but was told to go to a different pharmacy. I am sure they are signed up for the Pharmacy first scheme and getting paid by the government. Why are they refusing to give people treatment for thrush which can be common and recurrent for diabetics. If the pharmacy first scheme was to free GP time up. Why then is he tell me that my GP has to refer me there and that they have to receive confirmation form my GP, this will be taking up GP time. I went to another pharmacy and got treated and this time I was not told that my GP needs to send confirmation. If they are on the pharmacy first scheme they should not be refusing treatment for minor ailments. I am happy they are other pharmacies with well mannered people.
