Went into ask for a emergency prescription as I had ran out of my existing one , without realising how far down I was , the person behind the counter gave a resounding no that’s not possible, later I was told if I had rang 111 I would of been able to get a emergency prescription, why the person behind the counter did not explain this to me I do not know , as I didn’t know .

Dear patient Thank you for providing feedback on our pharmacy. My name is Matthew Hurst and I am the Superintendent Pharmacist. We are sorry that you found our customer service to be terrible. We are committed to providing high quality care and take your concerns seriously. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss the issues you raise to see if there is anything we can help with. There are laws and regulations governing the emergency supply of medications which pharmacists must adhere to. This means that there will be circumstances in which emergency supplies (including those that are initiated as a 111 referral) are not appropriate. In these circumstances, our pharmacists will advise patients further. In some instances, when patients are signposted to pharmacies for an emergency prescription, they may have been given the impression that the pharmacy will do an emergency prescription automatically. We are working with our NHS colleagues to raise awareness of the laws and regulations governing emergency supplies so that they understand the limitations of the service and can advise patients appropriately on the process of requesting an emergency supply. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please telephone the pharmacy on 01207 504131 and ask to speak to me. Matthew Hurst, Superintendent Pharmacist
