  1. Review titled Good, but one important flaw

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Staff are always friendly and helpful towards me with prescriptions and related phone calls. But one prob: the internet consistently shows opening times Monday to Saturday as 9 to 4, 5 or 5:30 - depending on the day. So I feel reassured to pop in there around lunchtime - but on arrival find it closed. A notice on the door shows they usually close for lunch.

  2. Review titled Lovely front staff, not so helpful chemist at times

I've noticed firstly that this pharmacy closes 12.30-1.30 everyday which is not helpful for people nipping to the pharmacy at "lunch time" during their working day when they are on a time limit with their breaks and also need the medication that day. I also find that the customer service from the pharmacy people is not very patient centred and today was told they just didn't have the medication in despite being told by my doctor a few hours earlier that the prescription would be available in a few hours. I have not left the house for 3 days due to being so sick so it was a real effort to get to the pharmacy. To arrive and be told it's not available with no alternative is really poor. In these circumstances patients should be informed in advance (before leaving their house to collect) or the preference is for the pharmacy to contact the GP and ask for an alternative, or better still for the pharmacist themselves to provide an alternative. I asked the front staff could the pharmacist provide an alternative on prescription and was informed that no he couldn't. I then asked for some help from the pharmacist with one I could purchase as I needed something. They then sold me something for £8 which is cheaper than a prescription but dearer than if you are on a medical exemption certificate for cancer, where prescriptions are £0. I spoke to my GPs practice after the event and was later informed that the pharmacist suggested I didn't even wait for an alternative prescription before I said I'd pay for one, which is totally inaccurate as that was my very question to the woman at the till. I've experienced a similar kind of thing in the past with this pharmacist and as a sick patient I don't think this kind of approach is very supportive. I'm a 48 year old sick woman, thank god I'm not a 78 or 88 years old sick woman as this approach is just awful when you're clearly at the pharmacy for ways to get better. Sadly, this isn't even rocket science, its simple patient centred good customer service.
