  1. Review titled Unsatisfactory

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Raymond yeo - Posted on 02 January 2024

On being told my meds would be here before Xmas. Today the 2/1/2024 I'm told my meds won't be delivered today . I explained I've been 5 days without my anti stroke meds heart meds etcetera. I was told the delivery person was chock a block . That's after being told I would receive them 5 days ago. And it seems it is OK in there view for me to go without my medication for this period of time . Having a pacemaker and high risk of stroke . Is this exceptable to have advice that I'm able to go without my meds for a few more days . If so why do I need to take them at all . Hospital consultants have put me on this medication and state I must not stop taking them . My blood pressure is very high at the moment , I also take meds for copd and wear a mask . So need these to help ne breath . The state say I'm very high risk . But my Parmacy says different . How can this be in any shape or form, a duty of care to a patient . Is beyond me . I will more than likely end up in hospital today , if I do .please be advised I will not let this drop and will pursue this matter to the health minister . As of now 5 past 1 on the 2nd Jan 2024 I am at a very high risk . Disgusting service. And attitude .

  4. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Rebecca - Posted on 06 June 2023

I went in to collect my dads prescription, I waited patiently in the long queue, listening to others moaning on the length of time. I finally got served to be told to come back in an hour as it wasn’t ready. I extended my car parking and went off. On my return back to the pharmacy, after the hour, the queue luckily wasn’t as long, but the lady stepped down from computer to serve me, went looking, went out the back, but came back and told me, it would be another 20 minutes. This isn’t acceptable after I was previously told an hour. The lady apologised and said it was waiting to be checked off. I wondered around the shop killing time and then had to extend my car parking again. There was no apology from the pharmacist for keeping me waiting. My dad has been a customer for many years and so was my late mum, the staff are always friendly with a smile, took time to chat to patients, but lately they are slow and look stressed.

  5. Review titled Never answer the phone

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2023

I have tried to contact them several times a day for the last five working days. They just let the phone ring continuously and never answer it!!! This is appalling service as they are dealing with vital medication. Not answering the phone should not be an option for such an important service.

  6. Review titled Excellent chemist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sue steart - Posted on 28 April 2023

We have been using this chemist now for quite some time now. Yes they are extremely busy and we have to wait for our scripts and call back to collect any owing. With all the other chemists closing and everyone looking for another chemist to use I'm sure it will get busier. We have always found the staff helpful and chatty considering the amount of pressure they are all under. It's not the staffs fault if meds are not available but the companies being able to keep up with supply and demand. I appreciate that in this day and age people's lives are so busy that having to wait is an inconvenience but we will not be changing our chemist . I know that at times the staff are under considerable stress but they do an amazing job. Keep up the good work and keep smiling if you can.

  7. Review titled Opening times

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 April 2023

So many staff and yet so much backlog, this is the the only pharmacy that shuts at lunch times and Saturdays, why? The legal requirement for breaks on a 8 hour shift is 20mins but the shops shut for an hour at lunch time and who shuts on Saturdays anymore, there are people with jobs them self's who can only make a visit to the pharmacy at lunch times or a Saturday, no wonder there's always a backlog they need to start being honest with themselves and put a limit on the amount of prescriptions they accept or more hours need to be introduced to opening times...

Hello, In response to your comment made. Our Core hours are 40 hours a week, and we do 42.5 hours a week. With regards to Saturday’s, we did open for many years, but unfortunately it was no longer viable. GP surgeries don’t open weekends, nor do Dentists, and other healthcare providers. We open at 08.45am and do not break until 1pm, then re-open again 14.00 hours, and again work through until 17.45pm. We have been closing at Lunchtime since Covid., we only have ONE pharmacist. Every member of staff needs a break, for their mental wellbeing and safety of patients. Boots and Tesco pharmacies are open on a Saturday. We cannot refuse to take on any more customers, this would be unfair to patients who need medication. There are pharmacies that are closing their doors and patients are needing a new pharmacy, this has put extra pressure on pharmacies still open, and since some pharmacies have stopped offering some services, this has caused patients to switch to us and other pharmacies. Staff, we are not overstaffed Yes, we do have a backlog, this again is due to the increase in customer base and NO extra staff. We do our best for our patients, but with the increase in pressure, it is impossible to get every prescription done by the end of each day, due to the sheer volume base we now have.

  8. Review titled Best pharmacy in Barnstaple

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chloe - Posted on 28 April 2023

This is the only pharmacy in Barnstaple I will use. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and the service is always amazing. I've recently had a baby and whilst I was pregnant I had a few issues. The staff here was always happy to help find the best solution to my problems and help in anyway they could. I couldn't think of a bad thing to say about them.

  9. Review titled Fantastic pharmacy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs brooke - Posted on 30 April 2023

I’ve been to this pharmacy many times for shop and homeopathy items. They are always very busy but remain cheerful. My parents use thrm for their medication, never a problem if we have to call back. Asking for advice is never and issue. I hear people moaning in the queue, but they are doing their best for everyone that goes through the door. I would 100% recommend this pharmacy.

Thank you for your email. Apologies if we were rude on the telephone. Sometimes we may sound rushed when answering the phone, if we have been serving customers in the shop, and heard the phone ringing for a long time. We have taken a lot of patients from surgeries that are closing, therefore we have now a back log of prescriptions to work through.
