Prescription sent to the pharmacy on the 15th june go to collect on the 28th june because asda are really bad at dispensing Prescription to wait nearly 30 minutes for them to do my prescription to be told oh sorry we haven't got your tablets and dont know when we will get any in. Why wait until 5:15pm 13 days after you received the prescription to tell someone they can't have the meds when they have just run out??? Asda pharmacy should not be aloud to handle people's life saving medications.

I was fast-tracked to GP out of hours service via NHS 111 as a result of having Covid, flu and a bacterial chest infection simultaneously. The GP identified this pharmacy as the closest to home. I arrived 20 minutes before closing time to find a short queue of 3 people waiting. I was in position 4.The assistant was speaking to the customer at the head of the queue for 10 minutes or so. I wasn’t unduly concerned how fast closing time was approaching since, in my experience, pharmacies will sort through the queue to see who needs a prescription filled and who wants to buy an over the counter medicine. At 3.55 another assistant appeared and started pulling blinds down over the shelving. At this point a woman behind me moved forward to ask about her prescription. I explained I was there for an ‘emergency’ prescription. The assistant asked my name, went into the back, and confirmed they had the prescription. She then told me the pharmacist would take 15 minutes to dispense it and I should return the next day. I explained that had I known they would just close without checking through the queue I could have either taken the prescription elsewhere before they closed. I couldn’t have gained attention without interrupting a confidential conversation with first person in queue and/ or barging past two others. The assistant told me (@15.36) that the pharmacist had now left the premises. I demanded that she bring me the paper prescription and left. This meant a delay of another 17 hours before I could start taking antibiotics. The OOH GP had told me not to hesitate to call again at any sign of deterioration since I have a serious health condition and they were concerned about sepsis developing. I explained all this to the assistant once I had a chance but made no impact at all. I will contact the GP out of hours service to report this. I would question whether this pharmacy should be accepting urgent prescriptions if they are unable to organise themselves to fulfil them.
